  1. I'm not trying to be so negative, I'm just trying to let people understand how the hardware works and software.
  2. Also the whole hibernate thing is flawed. To save the files it would require maybe 20 to 30 seconds. If you start your car and it goes on and off and on, it will just confuse the system. Also say you stop your car for a second and then start it back up it will still be saving the previous existance and then will have to start it back up. Hibernate is not going to happen, give it up people. The update will be bugs and if anything a slight load inprovement, but it's not going to be the miracle people expect.
  3. Some phones deal with the address book differently. Some will only send SIM contacts, some will only send quick contacts, others send everything and a good few will send none.

    Scratched Screen

Well they might just fix the firmware and send the unit + scratch back.
  5. Also if you keep getting engine sounds it could be that you've not grounded the unit well enough.
  6. Yes, hibernate is a windows feature, but the Avic units run WindowsCE and not Windows XP. This is a different version and does not support hibernate.
  7. Well my guess is that the CPU's are the same, but they are different hardware. For instance the 700bt doesn't have MSN Direct, this needs a chip to enable this option, so my guess is that it physically missing. Also the 90bt has a better amp than the rest, so should in theory have better sound.
  8. Hibernate sounds fantastic until you realise that it's not possible for the Avic units. It's just not possible to put it in a standby mode while the engine is off. Sorry to burst your bubbles, but this update won't be that much better, it will just be mainly bug fixes.
  9. So it should highlight bad areas of traffic, and you can tell by the icon's and road color. If there is bad traffic it will highlight the road red, then look at the icons to tell how bad the red line is. It's no live maps or google maps, but does work.
  10. Do you have to wire it up to the parking break? Is there not a software hack?
  11. From what I understand the traffic does appear on the map. Check out page 51 on the manual.
  12. Even stripping out some of the non needed components it's not going to speed it up. WinCE does take time, the Avic unit will be running a lot, even to get the satnav working will require most of them loaded. My bet is that they improve something like audio playback earlier, so once it starts you start to hear say your HD or XM radio while the system boots. Also the software and hardware is designed by MiTac and as much as I can believe they worked with MS to help to improve, there is only so much they can do. If it was able to boot in 10 seconds flat it would have done it from
  13. If you download the user guides from Pioneers's website there are pictures of the screens.
  14. That's a good point. If people didn't want the F series they wouldn't be here either, so it can't be that bad. Mine arives this week and going to review it in full, I hope it's good.

    Scratched Screen

I've never heard of removing a scratch on a touch screen by sanding it. Usually if you scratch a touch screen that's it over, it is expensive to repair and you'll need to take apart the whole unit. My guess, if you sand it you will make it worse.
  16. Also you could just drive within the speed limits
  17. Why are you buying a btb200? I'd say the mic from the f series should work fine, they have the same connector.
  18. That's pretty well done. How did you run the XM cable outside your car? Also what do you make of the HD Radio add-on?
  19. That's pretty good of Pioneer and impressive that the complaint got them to contact you! I hope the FW update works well for you.
  20. The MSN traffic is not that more expensive and if you by the for life price then after 3 years it works out cheaper than XM Traffic. Just check out the coverage here: http://www.msndirect.com/NavigationDevi ... b=Coverage
  21. I'd say the remote start is designed not to start the 12v power, you don't really want to start your car during breakfast and have it blast out music while you eat your breakfast right. I see what you want to do though, i'd say post a message on a Dodge website, they probably know the specifics better.
  22. There is no way they can improve the boot time that much. They might be able to shorten it slightly, maybe reorder how certain apps launch so you get sound earlier, but WinCE is really slow to boot, that's something you got to live with. While I wait for my unit to arrive I went down to Best Buy to play with the one they have setup and it works pretty well. I guess the test is when its installed, but it's definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. Either way, bug fixes in general is a good thing and what's better is to see Pioneers continual support for this unit.
  23. That's pretty sweet. You get full functionality, that's perfect. For my car it's going to look so out of place since the molding is so curvey and this is so flat, so you can only work with what you got.
  24. Akk reading the rest of the forum I came across another post about the cashback offer. I just wanted to post originally because I couldn't believe how low it was. I went to Car Toys yesterday to get a quote for them to install and when they heard how much it cost me they got really pissed off and started adding all these extra's to the install cost! Bastards! Couldn't believe them. Going to do it myself now.
  25. That's real hardcore. I like it
