In 2003 and I paid $2500 for an Alpine 900. It was a flip out, in dash DVD player. No navigation, no ipod control, no bluetooth... WOW, thinking back... that unit really sucked!

That is a great place to start... I just did a full reinstall of both yesterday and I swear in made mine run better. DONT FORGET to follow the directions perfectly and SAVE your IGO folder before deleting the flash drive! Let us know if this fixes your issues. ALSO, how close is your GPS antenna to your radar detector?

Hm, let me see... I have now read this in four different threads. If you have tried 4 different phones, either your unit is defective or you are simply doing something wrong. My wife has a Blackberry Curve that connects with my 900 almost instantly when the car starts. The battery level, signal strength and contacts are available on the 900. I would stop bashing the AVIC's and consider troubleshooting your individual issues!

Thats a very fair price... Your posts were 45 minutes apart, how soon do you expect a response? If you pay the $45 monthly fee to the ADMIN, then you are assigned a 24/7 customer service rep who can answer all your questions within 10 minutes.

Im amazed you didnt complain about the slow boot times or the other typical issues. None of the issues you seem to have are common. Maybe the person who installed your unit did a poor job... or maybe your unit is defective.

I replaced my D3 with the 900 and I would not go back. The D3 is a nice unit... but there were 3 additional boxes that I needed to have installed under the dash to make it do what the 900 does by itself. I think that the 900 is just as accurate as the D3 for navigation, and I LOVE that I am able to change maps, add 3D buildings and modify the GUI on the 900. NONE of this was possible on the D3.

Well, my offer stands... Personally, I would drive the 1.5 hours to save $300-$600. I just drove to Arizona to pick up a bed cage for my Frontier because it was REALLY CHEAP. Unfortunately, I got a $300 speeding ticket on the way back!

I am using a jailbroken and unlocked IPhone 3G with the 2.2 firmware on the phone and it works perfectly well. I have complete use of the VR, phone book/contacts and the Ipod works great. I think you may be doing something wrong...

Very nice work! It shows that you know what your doing with creating the images!!! My only suggestion (its actually a request...) is that as you work on this, you do a full theme. SO many of the themes I have found have a few icons here and there, and use most of the stock ones. I spent almost two weeks working on my silly Iron Man theme, but I changed every thing that could possibly be changed. When I went back and counted them, I had changed nearly 100 images.

If you have a Michaels Art Supply in your area go pick up a piece of 8.5x11 1/16th inch thick black plastic. It is near the kids art supply kits. Measure the deck for inside dimensions and then make the bezel .5inch on the top side an 1inch on the bottom (.5inch on sides should do the trick also). The plastic is easily cut with a sharp razor knife (several passes necessary) and I prefer the final product over one I cut with a dremel (the edges were much cleaner). Ive had 3 SD cards in and out of my F series so many times I reach for the SD card slot every time I get in my truck... And Ive never had one erased.

$100 is a GREAT deal for my area. Most shops quote from $200-$300 for a navigation system install here in SoCal.

I am in North San Diego County (Vista, CA 92083) and have installed my D-3, my wifes Z and my new F900BT. If you are in this area, I can assist. Shouldnt take more than a couple hours and of course I solder and heat shrink everything...

Xm Navtraffic does not work with the F series... SO that isnt even an option. I had Navtrafic with my D3 and it worked alright. I was not that impressed and after a few months had it shut off. I am using the trial of MSN and am pretty pleased with it. The information besides traffic has proved useful on a few occasions.

Screw it... my Iphone sits in a cradle mounted to my dash next to the deck. If someone breaks in to steal the deck, they are going to find the Ipod/Iphone regardless of where its hidden.
