  1. the AVIC keeps telling you that its prohibited? if so then you need to do the "parking brake bypass" so that you can watch movies while the truck is moving
  2. you will have to take spart the rear screen (if the DVD player is built in) and find the signal wires from the player to the screen and solder a set of RCA's into them, then run the RCA's into the video 1 input (also where the ipod plugs in) if the DVD player is seperate from the screen then you just need to split the video signal between the AVIC and the screen
  3. i didnt have this with my Alpine, but i do with my Pioneer
  4. most german cars do not use ISO mounts (factory radio brackets with standard holes to bolt new radio in) you probably need the double din mounting kit from pioneer (cage, brackets, and trim ring) sorry the model # is escaping me right now
  5. had the same problem, downloaded the software in the "phonebook edit software" thread and used it to create a contact list, worked like a champ
  6. i have had problems with the intergration module not completly shutting off, the best way to figure this out is, with every thing turned off and the key out, unhook the neg batt terminal and place a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) inline with the batt (the pos lead from the meter on the trucks neg batt cable, and the neg lead on the neg batt terminal) set the meter to AMPs or current an you should have less than 0.3 amps, if you have more than that, somthing is draining the battery, then while it still hooked up un plug the avic and see if the amps jump down, if not start pulling fuses 1 at a time u
  7. either one of the speakers is grounding out or the unit is shot
  8. +1 the IP-Bus connector on the back of the AVIC is blue, plug the blue end of the IP-Bus cable into the AVIC, the other end of the IP-Bus cable is black, make sure you plug this end of the cable into the black connector on the HD box, the blue connector is for connecting other componets
  9. if you didnt move the mute wire and grounded it then you would have put your unit into mute for as long as the wire was grounded
  10. trouble shooting 101 (1) get a small test speaker(that you know works) and make sure there is sound comming out of the head unit, if not problem solved - bad headunit (2) get an AA battery and connect wires to the ends then touch the wires to each pair of speaker wires (with out anything hooked up to the harness) if the speakers make a small "POP" then the problem is between the radio and the factory harness (most likely the intergration module) if you dont get a small pop, you probably have an amp that needs to be turned on, or blown speakers (i would lean toward the first one becaus
  11. +1 all you need is a female cig socket to wire in behind the dash
  12. 1 push in on the volume knob 2 start talking after the beep, "will you play the artist linkin park"
  13. Two things, (1) tinted windows (this will also help with the heat) (2) full coverage auto insurance (people do still steal radios)
  14. and both of you guys used the ipod cable with usb AND composite video, right?
  15. the amp will put out 500W RMS at 2ohms, which is where the subs (4ohms each) will be when the are ran in parralle. the subs can handle up to 400W RMS each, so you could use up to an 800W RMS @ 2ohm amp, but 500W will be fine you should also get a complete amp kit (power wire w/ a fuse, ground wire, amp turn on wire, RCA cables, and speaker wire) a good quality 8 awg kit will run up to 500W RMS, a 4 awg will run up to 1000W RMS, not all amp kits are created equal, some will say 4 awg but will actually be closer to 8 with a lot more insulation. and YES YOU MUST USE A FUSE if you don
  16. no, it just goes to a lower brightness setting when the dash lights are on. that is why it is a illum wire, not a dimmer wire
  17. i have had some cars show that the parking brake was on when it wasnt do to the wire being connected, a diod fixed the problem and you only want the arrow or line pointing to the AVIC if you have a +pos reverse wire, the arrow or line needs to point towards the wire if you have a -neg reverse wire
  18. they will work good together
  19. i wish i had that 5% of staying the f!@%$ where i was
  20. Yea I got one freebie from Sirius and the last one I just changed they ding me $75.00 yea, thats only with lifetime membership, if you just wan to transfer a normal membership it $20 for a new activation, the OP never said anything about having a lifetime subscription

  22. why does he have to pay $75 to activate a new tuner and deactivate an old one?
