  1. If you can't find the reverse to pick it wire in the dash you should be able to pick it up in the harness running down the passenger side. Lift the door sill plates, the harness will be at under the carpet. Look at the rear signal light and see if you can determine the wire color for the reverse lights. This is where I picked up the signal in two of my cars.
  2. I typically use c-r-u-t-f-i-e-l-d.com - Enter your vehicle type and your (or a comparable) head unit. Somewhere on there is a section about Accessories where they will itemize the harnesses, dash kits, etc that you'll need to install the stereo. Take your time and make sure your connections are secure and well insulated.
  3. Recheck all your connections, sounds like you may have a loose or crossed ground.
  4. This is normal. When you start the car, the power circuits to all accessories is momentarily interrupted so all power is available to the starter. On a similar note.... We have an X710 in my wife's car. Last week we stopped to pickup some takeout. My wife stayed in the car and I left the key in the Accessory position. When I got back in the car and started it, the X710 rebooted and asked for the startup password. It had never done this before, but usually I turn the car off, this is the first time I can remember that I turned the key to Acc and then back to Start without turning it all th
  5. What kind of car do you have? I have the same problem with the X910BT in a newer Chrysler vehicle with a factory amp using the PAC C2R-CHY4 harness adapter. To get the navigation voice guidance, I have to wire the X910's Rear speaker output to the Front speakers on the car. It depends on the car audio system. I had another newer Chrysler with a base audio systenm and all speakers worked.
  6. It could be caused by several things. I don't know how Sirius is provided to the Z-series, but if it's anything like my X910, the first I would look at is: - the fuse providing power to the Sirius adapter blew - Cabling to/from the Sirius adapter - the power to the Sirius adapter - the Sirius adapter went bad I would think you'll have to open things up to figure it out. Good luck - hope it's something simple
  7. Sorry but I strongly disagree with you. I have heavily tinted side and rear windows, for someone to see the screen in the dash they would have to bend down and squint pretty hard. Just a quick glance will reveal the antenna on the front dash through the clear windshield. Yes I also have an alarm, but with all the people out there that set their own off it's not likely to scare anyone but the newbie thief. When was the last time you paid attention to a car alarm going off in a parking lot? Best regards,
  8. I installed mine on a metal plate under the dash in two cars and have not had any problems. I picked up a 4" junction box cover at a hardware store and used high quality 3M Body Molding Tape to secure it under the dash. I'd rather hide the antenna than give some goof ball a clue that there's something in my car that can be stolen and sold for drug money......
  9. I installed a x710 in my wife's car about 2 months ago. We have had an intermittent problem where the audio source intermittently turns off. We'll be driving down the road listening to the radio - typically Sirius in case it matters - when the audio goes away. We wait a few seconds thinking it may be an interruption or something, then look at the display and the audio source says OFF. We go into the audio source menu and turn it back on and everything is again ok. Sometimes this happens once or twice a day, especially on long trips, but most of the time it's several days or weeks betwe
  10. Downloaded and installed these Navteq maps on my x910. I was hoping to get more speed limit info like the Navteq on my Garmin 750 has but was sadly disappointed by even less speed limit info than the TA maps from the last x910 FW update. I'll be putting the TA maps back on.
  11. Many of those shark fin antennas are just plastic dummies that you can pickup pretty cheap, no radio antenna is inside. You could use one of them to cover the real GPS antenna for your AVIC. The plastic should not interfere with GPS reception, I have mine mounted on a plate under the front dash. Just an fyi - I picked up a real shark fin antenna for my wife's car and replaced the small whip antenna on the roof. It cost about $80.
  12. I don't think they are common. I have a 910 in my car and recently installed a 710 in my wife's car. Both work fine, none of the above problems. The only mod I have is the hardware bypass. At one time I did have various problems on my 910. I had made various changes to the map display settings and enabled track logs. The unit acted weird for a couple of months and then went into really weird mode: out of memory errors, extremely long startup times, etc. I did a master reset on it and left most everything at the default settings and kept track logs turned off. I did change the volume settin
  13. I say leave the reverse wire not connected. Whenever you disconnect your battery or have to reset the AVIC, it will default the Rear Camera settings and you'll have to figure out how to get back in the change the setting. If it's not connected, then you don't have to worry about it. If you later decide to add a rear camera, then you can go back in and connect it.
  14. Hi, I just installed a X710BT in my wife's 2006 Corolla a couple of weeks ago. The installation was pretty easy, but I had previously installed the X910 in my car so I knew what to watch for. A couple of tips (in no particular order): 1) for mounting the GPS (and Sirius/XM antenna if you get it), pick up a 4" x 4" electrical junction box cover at a hardware store. When you remove the old stereo, if you look straight back there will be a opening between the two duct tubes. Right behind there is a hollow area where you can place the junction box cover for the antennas. You will have
  15. I didn't have any problems after I upgraded. I'd suggest clearing all your contacts and then do another phonebook transfer.
  16. Voice control for playlist selections only works with compatible ipod devices. The best you can do with SD cards is "set source sd" and "play sd shuffle" (or random or whatever the keyword is).
  17. Version 3.020100 for the X910 - X710 - X9115 - X7115 US ONLY is now available on the Pioneer website.
  18. I read the other thread that mentioned having special characters (like the &) in any of your contacts names. I went through my phone and fixed them. I took out everything except letters and numbers - no & signs, no dashes. Also, to fix the readability of the contacts on the 910, I put the contact's first and last name on the Last Name: field in the phone. Now the contacts on the 910 are all listed the way I want. Then I cleared my phone contacts and reloaded them to my X910. For the first time, I was able to use names! I called Home and Work and a couple others, all with no pro
  19. I also had problems with the track logs being intermittent on an unmodified X910BT. I do have the hardware bypass installed. Also after a few months I started getting Memory Full errors. The only resolution was a complete reset back to factory specs. I have not re-enabled the tracking function and have not had any further problems.
  20. You need both the SC-C1 and the CD-SB10. The SC-C1 is a universal tuner that takes the signal from the Sirius antenna and outputs it to the CD-SB10. The CD-SB10 is a Pioneer specific part that interfaces to the X910BT and allows the 910/710/etc to play the Sirius stations.
  21. I just purchased and installed a X710BT for my wife's car. The software version shows 3.0201, the manufacture date is Oct 09. One difference I noticed is the Display preferences for Sirius are retained when audio sources are changed - ie: If you have Sirius set to display the song title and then change to FM or other input, the Sirius would lose the setting and go back to displaying just the station id. Now it will return to displaying the song title. I also noticed it seems to startup just a little faster. I have an X910 in my car that I bought in June 09 and had to update to 3.0101.
  22. I just went into the contacts on my BB and entered the first and last name on the last name line. Deleted everything off the AVIC and did another import.
  23. Found problem - Front speakers from AVIC had to be connected to rear speaker inputs on Chrysler C2R-CHY4adapter on cars that have factory amps installed per adapter instructions. Navigation voice prompts and bluetooth work fine now. Except now I do not have any sound coming from back speakers. Will hit audio installation store this weekend to see what they say about connecting the rear speakers.
  24. This is a factory original, non-hacked unit. I have the hardware bypass installed, but nothing else. I never hacked the unit, so I do not have any backups of the operating system. I recently purchased a new car and moved the my X910 over. It was the same model car, so I did not have to change any cabling, just moved the harness and Sirius components over. Everything was working fine in the other car. Everything works except the TTS voices. Sirius works, AM/FM works, no erroros are displayed (if it ever does display errors). When driving a route - say to home - the route is shown on the
  25. The Sirius channel presets also do not have the names like AM/FM do. Hopefully they'll fix it with a firmware update. Seems kinda lame to not have the statiosn displayed. Bob
