Something like that should really help with seeing the screen with the top down.
  2. Are you using the factory amp? If you are then you don't have to worry about the impedence, the amplifier is taking the load, all you are doing is feeding the amp which should have a 4ohm impedence. The issue you may be having is overloading the factory amplifier because the Pioneer unit probably puts out more power than the factory head unit. If the entire system runs off factory amplification you should be using the pre-outs of the Z110 to feed your system and not the speaker leads. I have a 1999 Mustang with the "Mach 460" sound system the is all amplified externally and the harness
  3. Factory Shaker 500 system. The subs in the doors are controlled properly by the sub control in the deck, the system sounds WAY better than with the factory head unit. The high pass filter set to 63Hz really helps the factory speakers to not crap out on bass notes.
  4. It's not the best but is IS RDS, I just took a look at the European model manual and the RDS is much more advanced, probably because they don't have satellite radio available in Europe. When I first hooked up my Z110 the antenna lead in my car was too short to plug into the back of the unit, I got it close enough to get reception to hear the radio stations but the RDS information didn't come through, when it wasn't hooked up the signal strength was only 1 bar (see satellite icon) now it is full bars. I should be in Calgary in the next few weeks and will update as to whether or not I get R
  5. Getting an HD tuner will not help you, RDS is built in to the Z110BT, it works on mine in Edmonton, all the FM stations I listen to show me the station name, and the ones that broadcast it also show me the song name and artist on the screen. I just wish it would show more than 8 characters or so at a time, it's a HUGE screen, it all should be visible at once, not scrolling. I suppose it has something to do with the format it is sent in but there should be a way for the software engineers to make it work.
  6. Well I just gave it a try and same result, my BB 8330 (Curve) contacts show up the same way on the z110, Last First. In BB they are listed as First Last. The Z110 also has a separate phone book for each device anyway (as it should) so it wouldn't work either way.
  7. I'm really not familiar with the Uconnect system, I've never actually seen one in person, I got all my information by doing a quick google search and found http://www.300cforums.com/forums/car-au ... tions.html
  8. You just gave me an idea, I will erase my current contacts in the z110, sync my Blackberry with the z110 (has the same contact list as my N97), and hope the N97 dosen't overwrite the contacts the next time it hooks up.
  9. Thanks for the great suggestion, it didn't work though. I tried it with my phone in all 3 modes, "First Last" , "Last First" and "Last, First" (separated by a comma) and all three gave me the same results. I did do a little experimenting and found that if I send a business card directly to the Z110 via bluetooth it does show up correctly, this would work well for me except for 2 problems. 1) I would have to send 200+ contacts individually which would take some time (but I'd be willing to do it) 2) when my phone connects the contacts automatically sync to check if any new contact
  10. not using pioneer cable with my iPod nano, cover art shows up.
  11. I am having good results with the VR system overall, even with the top down. When dialing contacts I find I get better results when I say the last name THEN the first name, for some reason the system lists all my contacts that way and for some reason Pioneer didn't give the option to reverse the order as they did in my FH-P800BT.
  12. hope this helps Delete UConnect™ Paired Cellular Phones • Press the "Phone" button to begin. • After the “Ready” prompt and the following beep, say “Setup Phone Pairing”. • At the next prompt, say “Delete”. • The phone names along with priority numbers will be announced. • When prompted say the priority number of the cellular phone you wish to delete. You can also press the "Voice Recognition" button anytime while the list is being played and say the priority number of the phone you wish to delete.
  13. That's too bad, I really thought it would have shown up as a USB drive and given you access to any music you had on there. I just tried it with my nano and got a message on the screen something like "iPod failed authorization" and the icon was greyed out, no USB icon at all.
  14. The eye fi looks really neat but from what I have read on the website it doesn't look like it will work for this purpose. The card looks like it is only capable of transferring data (images, video) that are stored on the card, I don't think it will communicate with any devices and allow internet browsing etc.
  15. In the change holder in the console, it has slots for quarters, dimes and nickels. Ashtray in a Mustang is optional and just fits in one of the cupholders, I have one for my 99 Mustang.
  16. hmmm, no ashtray in the Mustang, I'll have to take a look on Stangnet, I thought I saw something posted there, Thanks for your response though!
  17. If you are only going to use the iPod for music and not video you can use the standard iPod USB cable and then plug a 3.5mm phono to phono (male on both ends) cable into the iPod and the Z110 (got mine at the dollar store). I bought an iPod nano yesterday and tried this and it works wonderfully, just make sure the volume is all the way up on the iPod b4 you connect it. I am disappointed however that you need to hook up the audio jack at all, my FH=P800BT only needed the iPod USB cable.
  18. I wonder if the Z110BT is smart enough to utilize a 4 port USB hub, it is windows based...
  19. The only way you will be able to use your iPod is by connecting the headphone jack to the AUX in on the Z110, the deck will not be able to control the iPod from the Z110 though. or.... Try putting your iPod in disc mode and see if it recognizes the music on it, you won't have voice control, but you will have some control from the Z110 and will see the ID3 tags on screen. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
  20. BLUETOOTH SETTINGS, REGISTRATION, OK Or page 80 in the manual. I tried that b4 posting, but my phone does not even show up in that list, when I click registration it just searches for new phones, it does show up in the connections list but I don't see an option to delete from there, just to change modes.
  21. Thanks! Any suggestions for the dimmer wire? I agree 4V pre-outs = good sound!
  22. I just replaced the FH-P800BT in my 2006 Mustang GT, (factory was Shaker 500) with a Z110BT and they both sound great, no issues with the factory amp. I used a Metra harness (don't remember which one) and installed the 5V regulator to get rid of the "POP" sound, I just need to hook up the VSS wire now as soon as I check stangnet to figure out where that wire is....
  23. If you are concerned than have your installer connect the illum wire to any other wire that receives 12v when the lights are turned on, dash switch, parking lamp wire etc, not the one that goes to the BCM.
  24. OK, now I am a little ticked off. I bought a Z110BT on Friday and installed it, expecting that like the U310 it would dial the 1-800-GOOG-411 number and it dials the long distance number GRRR. I am in Canada and do not have a plan that includes long distance, and certainly not long distance to the US. I know I can add GOOG411 to my contacts but it is just more convenient to hit that big GOOG411 button on my screen. Oh well I guess I can use voice dial if it is in my contacts....
