  1. You gave virtually no useful information. What model unit? Was it used? What version f/w? What kind of USB device? How was it formatted? What size? How many files stored? How many folders? The user's manual has a "Media Compatibility Chart" in the back, stating limitations for each type of media. BTW, was it an SD card or some USB device.
  2. Sometimes no answer is an answer. Nobody knows. Put it on ebay and see what you find. There's all sorts of useless stuff for sale. Someone's junk is another's treasure.
  3. As a safety feature Pioneer disables some functionality of the head unit if the parking/hand brake is not set. It's so the driver won't get distracted while the car is moving. I don't know all the functions but among them are things that require lots of key/screen manipulation. For example entering a destination into the NAV. Apparently it never occurred to them that a passenger could do it. However, I doubt that AppRadio is one of those functions. The only con to wiring the bypass would be getting into an accident while distracted, and having the insurance company using that as an excuse
  4. So that forced the unit to start using the previous firmware. Depending on what the previous owner had installed, it could be the original firmware. First thing you should be aware of - some settings and functions of these units only work if the parking brake is set. I don't know which functions are disabled since I did the parking brake bypass from the day I got the unit. So this may or may not be your issue. If that isn't the issue, I'd reset the unit to factory default by disconnecting all power for a few minutes. Simplest way is to disconnect the car's battery. Once you get the Sys
  5. Came across this old thread so I thought I'd add some new info. I never did implement any "fix" based on the ideas here. I just lived with the problem (rebooting). However, last year I needed a new battery and I upgraded from the 700 CCA OEM battery to an AGM 900 CCA one from Autozone. After that, the problem went away. I now leave my Z110-BT ON when pumping gas or other similarly brief shutdowns. So, in my case, the real issue was the voltage drop on the always-on +12V when starting the car. Just needed a more robust battery.
  6. The parking brake must be on.
  7. Great. What worked???? Testmode is just a tool. BTW, I suspect previous owner dabbled with Condi's Hackmode and it crippled your unit.
  8. Get Supertestmodekey.zip from here http://http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/35110-avic-f40bt-testmode-fixed-firmware/?hl=supertestmode#entry256194 Unzip it; copy Testmode.key to an SD; insert into HU. BTW, 6.0 is the latest firmware/maps. However, it's hard to diagnose what the problem is.
  9. Forgiven. No big deal. It happens a lot here. I know nothing about the Asian units or their US/EU equivalents. There are several threads here asking similar questions about TestMode and changing the language. So maybe you can find the info there.
  10. Bumping doesn't help, is impolite, and is against forum rules. If someone has an answer to your question/problem, I am sure they'll respond.
  11. The keyboard is locked unless the unit senses that the parking brake is set. Some have gotten around this by grounding the PB sensor wire, or you can wire it in bypassed mode (search for bypass), or simply install the unit correctly and set the brake.
  12. If you don't have the parking brake bypassed, you must have it wired correctly (as in the manual) and set it in order to enter the password. AFA removing the password, just delete that file that you dumped in order to retrieve it.
  13. For any weirdness after a firmware update, the first thing to try is a hard reset (disconnect battery for a few minutes). You will loose some settings and may need to re-pair BT. Why didn't you for directly to 6.0? You don't need to install all the intermediate updates. Make sure AV System Settings/App Connection is set to Bluetooth. I've never had any luck with "App Mode" on an Android device. Its been a long time since I tried, so maybe it works. Its mainly for iPhones.
  14. Insulting people is no way to get help. Speaking for myself, I only respond to questions when I can add knowledge. I know nothing about the NEX unit. Maybe 3D was not turned-on in the settings.
  15. Nothing wrong with the 2015 zip file. I just d/l and unzipped it using Win10 right click & extract. Some versions of WinRAR have problems.

I don't know for sure, but I believe that model is in the NEX Series. You should ask over there.
  17. If you plan on doing anything, keep that backup SD. I know there is a way to use testmode to "force write" different versions. You can try researching that, but I have no experience with it. I don't think you can just copy the files from a previous version into one of the PRGn directories. I've exhausted my knowledge on this. Maybe someone else can help. Good luck. Oh, those 3.00x things are just patches for bug fixes. So they are missing major pieces of the 3.0 software,
  18. Sounds like it. Did you install 6.0 more than once?I don't know how that could happen. I didn't think it would do anything if the version is the same, but maybe not. I highly recommend backing up everything at USER and below. Use an 8GB SD. Just select USER and Copy, then go to the SD and Paste. This is both as a precaution and to allow easier comparisons to the files. BTW, are you initiating the BT pairing from the headunit or the phone? In one case you make the phone discoverable and look for it from the headunit BT settings menu. But you can also do it the other way. IDK if it makes
  19. I have a Z series unit, which has different buttons. So Testmode works differently (no volume knob and the other buttons on the bottom). I'm sure it is just a problem with you understanding how this lousy user interface works. I just made a video showing how to do this on my Z110. Looks like the "command bar " at the bottom doesn't show up very well when it is highlighted, but it should be pretty obvious what I'm doing with my narration. Test Mode Copy Paste video If you get an error trying to play the link directly, download it (there's a down arrow on the right-top) and use whatever pla
  20. I don't know what you are doing wrong, but I can tell from the pic of your USER directory you did something wrong. It shows a directory <DIR> called PRG. I'm attaching a photo of my screen. Notice mine shows a file called PRG.FLG It must be either how you are creating the file on your PC (it is a PC correct?), or how you copied and pasted it in USER. I am also attaching a file you can use for PRG.FLG. You have to unzip it (for some reason I can't upload the file as-is). Copy it to your SD and try again. I hope you didn't destroy anything in PRG0 or PRG1. PRG.zip
  21. No, if present it should be a file in the USER folder. You seem to be using terminology in a non-standard way, and it is confusing the situation. A folder (also called a directory on many computer systems) contains zero or more files or other folders. A file can be anything that you want. It can be empty or contain binary data, text, music, pictures, or anything else that needs to be kept. So if there was no file called PRG.FLG in USER (which also contains the folders PRG0, PRG1, and some others), you need to copy the one from your SD into the USER folder on the AVIC. That may be what you
  22. First, those are directories (folders), not files. Unless its a typo, you still don't have a PRG.FLG file. And never delete anything unless you are told to. It's a good idea to make a copy to SD of everything in USER - just in case.
  23. So it sounds like you don't have the USER/PRG.FLG file and are having problems with TestMode. First, make sure you have the correct Testmode.key. There are a few floating around and some won't allow pasting. I'm attaching one that works. Be sure to unzip it first. Sounds like you need remedial TestMode training. It is a very clumsy user interface - to say it mildly. There are several videos on Youtube that cover copying and pasting files. JASONH did an early one (WARNING - he refers to Hackmode but he is demonstrating Testmode. Never install Hackmode) I really don't have the time or patien
  24. There are two separate copies of the software on the unit. Under User, there are folders named PRG0 and PRG1. If your unit has never been updated, they are both identical. Updating to v6 should of overwritten only one of them. The boot loader chooses which one to run using the presence or absence of a file in USER called PRG.FLG. If this file doesn't exist, the loader uses the files in PRG0. If it does exist, it uses PRG1. To use the backup copy: On your PC create a file called PRG.FLG using any method you like. If usually is 0 length but it really doesn't matter Copy this file to your SD
