  1. If they hooked everything up correctly, you could easily do the bypass yourself. It really is easy, don't be intimidated by all the wires. There's no crazy soldering or electrical hazards involved. Just: unplug/plug and snip/crimp. Easiest electrical work you'll ever do. Everyone on this forum can walk you through it. About the workmanship of the install, if it's working ok, I'd say they did it ok. They may not have used great connectors, but it can be fixed easily. (again, we can show you how). Unfortunately, I don't know anyone in that area that does installs, bu
  2. VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor (I think). As the others said, it's just used to keep the nav accurate, but not needed. I bet your installed hooked up your illumination wire but connected it to the wrong wire.
  3. Either the mute wire pin came out or the ground connection came out (if he grounded to the chassis). Check all ground connection and you should be good to go. The connections could have come appart from normal vibrations if he did a crappy job (wire nuts?).
  4. Yeah, that sounds like video mode. Touch the screen when it's black. Then tap "music". I'd also be sure you have the latest software on the iPod and that the cable is connected securely.
  5. If it's not bypassed, you can't dial out or access the menu options while driving. You can however receive calls. After you bypass, you can do whatever you like.
  6. Exactly. You do not strip the wire. Just place the T-tap on to the ground wire, then put the other wire (parking brake or mute wire) in the other end. Then crimp the lid shut. The metal piece inside cuts into the wires and bridges the connection. I only needed one tap. I used the existing one that was already attached to the parking brake.

  8. Super easy. You only have to tap one wire for power. The rest is plug n play except for routing a few cables around like the GPS and Mic.
  9. 03 Mustang here. I didn't tap my VSS though. Seems perfectly fine without it.
  10. Still pleased with my bluetooth adapter. It even works with AT&T's push to talk.
  11. You could try reloading the software and resetting it. Otherwise, it sounds like it's hosed. LA is the default location it retains so it sounds like it can't read the GPS.
  12. Nice "pioneer logo"! I wish I had that one as my startup.
  13. Mine works just fine. I've used several blackberries. It connects as soon as I turn the car on.
  14. There is a confirmation screen that comes up everytime the NAV is loaded so that is normal.
  15. There is an icon in the bottom right hand corner. I think it has an option in there to save.
  16. Good luck finding one. I haven't even seen one on the newsgroups. Your best bet would be to ask someone here for help.
  17. Yeah, no need for an extra kit from pioneer. I have an 03 stang and the one from crutchfield fits perfectly. Just use the two screws up front and your good.

    Installation

If you buy from Crutchfield, they will send you all the instructions with diagrams and the right mounting kit you need. And if you get stuck, you can call them.

    DVD BACKUPS????

If you use Alcohol, be sure you have the latest version. Some of the older ones didn't burn DL media too well. I used UltraISO to make a .iso image and then Nero to burn that image. Probably an extra step that most don't take, but it always works.
  20. I don't think so. The graphics are built into the OS programming. You could try replacing some files on the DVD but I'm not sure if that's possible (just guessing here).
  21. If it does it while completely still, then something isn't right with your mod job. 1. Be sure that pin is correctly in the right place. It should not come out when you tug on it. 2. Be sure your grounds are good. How are you grounding it?
  22. Does the iPod show Pioneer when it's plugged in? What file format are your audio files? Try a video and see what happens.
