  1. Brad, that is a great list you've compiled. May I enquire as to the source of the information you posted? Did you test all of those phones? And what functionality did you test for? I would like to include them, but because not all of the features/functionality are given, I'm not sure they would really be that much of an asset in the context of this thread. Thanks again for the post though!
  2. They're going to use their training and years of experience to: a) Confirm that the installation was done correctly. Figure out what the problem is and fix it. There are some situations where you can't make up for experience, this may be one of them. You can try a ground loop filter, but I doubt it will work because of the symptoms you've given, and that really should be an absolutely last resort, because it's just masking the problem.
  3. No, it's not safe to assume the VSS lead isn't connected based on the information you provided. We have no way of knowing what type of dead-reckoning is used in the F-Series, if any. It could be that without a GPS update the F-Series just stops tracking, regardless of what the speed pulse and gyroscope/compass are saying. The best way to know for sure would be to stick a meter on the wire used to provide the speed signal to see what its output is with varying speed.
  4. You have to read the FAQ before it will be an option (the link is in my signature).
  5. Don't blame you for a second, enjoy the Kenwood, it's a dream after owning the Pioneer.
  6. You can't hold the P.Scan button while turning on the stereo to enter the adjustment menu?
  7. No updated maps for the current version of iGo on the F-Series have been released.
  8. It needs to be outside the cabin. I had a similar install in a past car and any time the view to the south was obstructed for more than just a second it would drop out. Move it to the roof and you'll be set.
  9. The F-Series is seriously lacking in the audio settings department. The vehicles speed is known, so it would be very easy to automatically adjust the volume, and have the sensitivity set in a menu. Also, I wish they had a setting for the turn-on volume like most OEM headunits have. I hate that if I'm listening to the music with it really loud on my way home from work, that it's that same volume the next morning. It scares the crap out of me. Actually it's really easy to turn off, it's in the radio menu under GALA, just set it to 0 (not that it matters as you don't have the factory
  10. No problem, as long as you made an effort, that's all that matter. Welcome to the site!
  11. The FAQ would be a good place to look before posting, but since you didn't try this.
  12. It's on the Z-series, but Pioneer left it out of the F.
  13. What firmware is your Touch running? IIRC, one of the updates Apple issued killed video playback from the Touch. Try doing a search, I thought that issued got resolved, but I don't know for sure.
  14. What about the bluetooth doesn't work with your phone? Mine works perfectly (everything but SMS alert). Yeah, those crosshairs can be annoying, but at least it's easy to fix.
  15. Yes, the female USB connection is permanently attached, but the Pioneer or Apple Composite cable will plug into that. Do you have the Touch or iPhone, and which version of the software are you using?
  16. It probably had something to do with the fact you were on the phone. Like paQ said though, that's exactly what happens when the red crosshairs (remember that other thread we had complaining about them) come up on the screen.
  17. Welcome to the site dogpilot! Yes, this has been covered before, most notably in the owner's manual for the F-series. Download it from Pioneer's website and have at it.
  18. Read the troubleshooting FAQ (linked in my sig).
  19. Remove your F-Series from the dash and pull out the (black) power harness connector; it covers the fuse for protection.
  20. Hey koch1ar, welcome to the site! The Apple Composite Cable kit is still the best choice from a quality and value perspective You will need a wiring harness adapter to go from your vehicles wiring to the F700. Because you have a newer Chevy with Onstar, you'll probably want to use PACs C2R-GM11. That will definitely speed up the integration. If you want to use XM with the Pioneer you'll need to purchase their external XM tuner (your factory tuner will not work). You can do the wiring in your house over the course of a few days to get the harness ready to go into the c
  21. I've noticed that if I put the major city the suburb is located in for the city, and start to enter the street name, the F-Series will actually offer streets in other suburbs. Not sure if other units around the world work the same as those in the US, but that works for me.
  22. You know about the View New Posts link right? It's at the top of the forum index and will search for only posts that have a newer timestamp than your last visit. It's not as reliable as some other forum software, and requires that you clear the timestamp for each forum individually, but it's a great way to keep track of what is new.
  23. Nice post Hennessy08STI! After that calibrate the touchscreen while in CE.
  24. The problem is that we all do this in our spare time, for the fun of it. It's not possible for one person to track all of the modifications and keep everything up to do. As the instructions in the first post of the FAQ say, if you have something you think should be in there, post a reply and we'll add it. It's not a locked thread for that specific reason.
