1. Yes, I'm connected to the cd-i100 with no other external power source. The adapter works great for me.
2. I tried this adapater with my Ipod Touch 2G and my AVIC Z1 and it works great! http://cablejive.com/iphone_3g_charge_converter.html I bought the smaller/cheaper version that does not have the USB port.
3. I just installed the FTP image with the new part 1....no problems!!! Thanks to everyone. I didn't use the entire image, instead I used the instructions provided to maintain my music and settings from my old Z2 image and just applied the new maps and software partitions. This was all done on the original Z1 unit. Oh yeah, no reboots from voice command. Hopefully everything stays stable.
4. Thanks for the writeup garrettoomey! I feel ALOT more comfortable doing this now.
5. Thanks for everyone's work! Would someone care to post a walkthru on how to retain your music and settings with the new image?
6. I am using the toshiba 60gb MK6034GAX hard drive and had no reboot issues so far. Thanks everyone for all your help! I now have more music space and the system does respond quicker.
7. Can you psot the links for parts 8 and 9? For some reason, I can get parts 1-7 to download by clicking on your links, but trying to manually enter parts 8 and 9 aren't working for me. Thanks!!
8. I would also be interested in getting a Z2 image.

Firmware

I just noticed in the support section for the Z1 on pioneers site, there is now a tab for "firmware". Nothing is under the tab as of yet. Does anyone know if we should be expecting a FMM update soon? I'm guessing it may give us the same bypass problems Z2 owners are having right now.....
10. Not an expert here, but.....in reading through all these posts, it looks like the the file should be on the hard drive. I believe someone posted that they put a Z1 hard drive in a Z2 and the Z2 was bypassed. Once the Z2 hard drive was put back in.....they were back at a dead end. Am I understanding this right? Looks to me that the hard drive is the place we should be looking rather than the flash memory.
11. I know this may seem pretty simple minded but....has anyone checked the service info screen. Has anything changed there. Maybe something to do with the bypass???
12. Unlocked Motorola V360 - Tranfer Contacts: One-by-One - Calling: Fully Functional
13. I thought I remembered someone syaing there is a way to unlock a Hard drive for free, but will erase all the data. Sounds like that wouldn't be a concern in this case in that his hard drive is formatted anyway. Now the only thing is getting him an image of a drive. Just a thought....

Z1 HDD format

For those who have tried imaging their hard drive and it didn't work.....did you happens to use a hash program such as MD5 or SHA-1 to verify the copy is an exact copy?

Z1 HDD format

Has any one tried "ophcrack" http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/ , to crack the password and get this drive unlocked for free? I just heard of he program and heard it does a very goodjob. It's linux based and all you need to do is download the iso file, burn to cd and boot from it. I'd try it, but I don't have an adapter at the time to hook up the drive to my computer.

Z1 HDD format
There has to be something in there that tells it to shut down if it sees greater than 30 GB. If you clone a drive, you are doing just that, an exact duplicate. So I figure there must be some lil' script in there to check for 30 GB's.
Anyone have a 30 GB drive to test it out and see if it works? Ideally a 7200 RPM one.....maybe a lot of the lag in certain areas would be fixed this way rather than using the slow HDD pioneer suplied with the unit.

Z1 HDD format

Ducati, Not sure if it'll help the HDD testing or not, but I noticed you now have 2 Z1's at the time. Could you try swapping the HDD's and see if they work?

Cheap TV tuner

I'm just looking for reviews for cheaper tv tuners that would work. If I had $240, I probably still wouldn't buy the pioneer one just because it isn't a necessity, however, the one's from XO Vision are $60- $70. I would jump on that bandwagon. Just cheking to see if I can find any reviews before I do.

Cheap TV tuner

I'd also be very interested in reviews of "value" tv tuners. It'd be a great addition, just can't justify the price tag pioneer wants.
20. I installed it yesterday and it has been working PERFECTLY! Thanks again for your work and spreading the wealth!!
21. Looks like theres plenty of room to me.
22. For those of you who can't get the light trick to work.....I had the same problem with my Trailblazer. When I installed the Z1, I attached the illumination wire from the Z1 to the Illumination wire from the car. After about 3 days, I found out through the "connection status" option, "illumination" was always showing "off". I went aback into the dask and hooked up the dimmer wire from the car to the illumination wire from the Z1. I went back to "connection staus" and found "illumination" is always on. If my foglights are on and I turn the dimmer light switch all the way down, it goes to of
23. Thanks for your help!!! I am interested in any other option to replace the TR7 if someone makes one up that doesn't need to be programmed.
24. Sorry....I didn't log in last time. I have a chevy trailblazer and stil can't get the bypass to work. It's been 3 days I've been trying!! :-(. Everything is hooked up per manufacturer spec. The truck has daytime running lights, and it doesn't have a convention pul out/push in typre headlight switch. It one that turns and the only way to turn off the lights are to turn the sping loaded knob to the left which automatically returns back to it's original position and turns of the parking and headlamps. Anyone have any ideas why I can't get this to work?
