  1. First of all, I'm *from* Texas, but I live in Maryland. And I spend a lot of time in DC and NYC. Plenty of places to parallel park. But it's more for when I pull up to things that are shorter than my hood. Like the Mini I tried to park in front of. It would be nice to see how close to it I actually am. Not necessary, as I haven't ever hit anything, but nice.
  2. Hmm... good point. I already planned to wire in a diode so my switch doesn't turn on my reverse lights. I'll need to build an XOR switch of some kind. Thanks.
  3. I have used the SR1 and the R55. Both work, both have functions the other does not. So I now use a Logitech Harmony remote and get the best of both. Yes, it IS overkill.
  4. I think you need to use the other interface. Do you have preset buttons and mode buttons?
  5. Greetings, all. I have a 2004 Expedition with an Avic Z2. I already have a rearview camera with the monitor in the rearview mirror. I want to install a forward facing camera that will come on while in reverse (for parallel parking) as well as turned on with a switch. The reverse part is simple. just hook it up as I would a normal reverse camera and it should work fine. My issue is that I also want to be able to switch the camera on with a switch. Will the Z2 freak out if I send a signal up its reverse wire while I'm moving forward? I want it to just switch to the rear view (which would
  6. This brings up an interesting (to me) question... If one connects the data cable *without* the IP Bus cable, would one get traffic but no XM radio? I'm thinking about that guy that has a Z2 & D3. If he could use one XM unit and have the traffic on the Z2 but the XM radio on the D3, that would be pretty cool.
  7. Do you have a voltmeter to see if it's actually sending a signal through that wire?
  8. From what I'm reading, these are actually tuners. So you would have to have access to the box in order to actually watch any tv. That's why they have channel up & down buttons. The Pioneer tuner would have to remain on channel 3 (or 4).
  9. I actually use both the CDR55 and the SR1. Both work well, and both do different things. I haven't tried from outside.
  10. Greetings. I'll be installing a Z2 in a 2004 Expedition this weekend. Sonic Electronix sent me a Scosche FDK9B wiring harness. It *appears* that it might have the correct harness for the amp, but will it work as well as the Metra 70-5521? I'm having a little trouble locating one locally. Thanks in advance.
  11. Do you have XM installed? Mine will do that if I've viewed the map then get an XM signal interruption. If you're looking at the map when it happens, you'll see a quick flash of a message saying "XM Updating" If not, uh... no idea.
  12. I have an 06 Fusion, and both my GPS & XM antenna are in the little bin on top of the dash. They work just fine. And no, VSS isn't hooked up.
  13. I just did the exact same thing last week. I stopped in Nashville and switched discs there. Worked just ducky.
  14. Directory called PICTURES No more than 20 images (jpg format) CD size >=1.8MB
  15. The last setting (bottom left of the screen) says "Wide 2" be default. Change it to one of the "Narrow" settings and you should be able to adjust with more granularity.
  16. I see... That somewhat blows... But, if I hit the "XM Traffic" button, does that not tell me (or show me) incidents that are on my way? Sorry to be such a pain, but this seems counterintuitive.
  17. Yeah, I understand that, but I was under the impression that if there was actually an incident on my route, it would tell me about it, instead of telling me the exact opposite. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the way it works.
  18. Old thread, I know. But i have a bypassed Avic D3 with active navtraffic service. I can set a route somewhere, and the traffic on route button is still greyed out. What's more, on one occasion, I pressed the "XM Traffic" button, and it gave me the old "There is no traffic information on your route". but when i looked at the list, there was an accident right on the highway I was taking (inner loop of 495 in the DC metro). Is something wrong with my stuff?
  19. I'm also curious why they don't provide traffic flow there. Maryland DOT has the info (visible here and here), although I don't know how that's populated. Is there any specific email address we can send questions to? Besides PMing a certain XM employee?
  20. Thanks. For anyone else who ends up searching on a 2006 Fusion, that connector has two green/white wires. It's almost impossible to see which one goes to what pin. The reverse is 20 gauge, and the other is 18 gauge.
  21. Yep. Holy crapwhistle, Batman! That blows. Anyway, could you point out ye olde reverse wire? Thanks in advance.
  22. Greetings. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion which should be wired the same as the Zephyr. I also have speed sensitive volume. Am I as out of luck as the rest of the more recent Fords having to go to the wheel speed sensor? Thanks.
