  1. The album art no longer has the fade in that it has in iOS 8. So instead the album art is just slightly greyed out and also is slightly out of focus but you can definitely see it a lot better.
  2. It's the nav. Your head unit still thinks it's giving directions. Set a course for somewhere either in the built in nav or in CarPlay. The issue will correct right away.
  3. I have a 4000 NEX. I wouldn't get AvicSync regardless. I'm pretty sure you're out of luck though. Honestly I doubt AvicSync will ever show.
  4. If the wiring doesn't say to do It I would not suggest it. The last radio I knew that did this was the Appradio 1. I have not seen that wiring option in the nex line nor do I see the setting to use the rear input in that fashion. I would not suggest it.
  5. I mean the radio on paper is a work of magic. That's the thing though. Since announcing it parrot has gone utterly Dark about that radio. No release date. No hint on price. No further demos. Not even a teaser page on their website. That thing might as well be vapor-ware at this point. God I want one. It needs to be real first though for me to have one.
  6. Go to a large best buy or find a local car audio shop. The smaller best buys don't have nicer radios on display. Plug your phone in and see how it works. What phone do you have? If it is android, do you have a new enough version of the software to support android auto? Answer these questions and then try it for yourself. Personally on the apple CarPlay side of things, the pioneer radios have shitty displays but CarPlay is nice to have. For CarPlay I haven't seen a truly fantastic radio on the market yet. The 8100 is ok but costs too much money If all I want is CarPlay/android au
  7. The message thing happens to me occasionally. Not always though. I have not noticed a real difference between Bluetooth or CarPlay for audio quality.
  8. Audio from the phone does not work in CarPlay with this hack right now.
  9. No. It goes through usb. Give it a try. Unpair your Bluetooth on your phone and turn off Bluetooth and erase your phone on your radio and then plug your phone into CarPlay. Once it's connected, make a call. Notice it still works. No Bluetooth. All from the usb direct connect.
  10. On my 4000 the only feature I use is CarPlay. Don't care about HD radio, hdmi, Bluetooth streaming, contact sync, Appradio mode, dual USB, satellite radio, idatalink or any other stupid thing Pioneer half assed on my radio. If someone makes me a 7 inch 720 capacitive display with a decent amplifier for my speakers and nothing else I would buy it in a heartbeat.
  11. Pioneer right now mediocrity in a sea of garbage. The head unit manufacturers are not innovating. Frankly I'm glad for CarPlay and android auto because my radio will receive updates and new functionality over time from apple instead of from pioneer. In the 8.3 beta the album art looks better and once again works with third party apps, the phone no longer needs to be unlocked to use CarPlay,(you just tell the phone to trust this head unit and it auto launches after that) the maps now does this thing where if you don't touch it it hides buttons automatically to dedicate more of the screen t
  12. Oh and the turning off the radio to force a restore plan did Not break my radio so I will be trying the same thing with the 1.03 firmware to see if it will work right that way.
  13. So progress! The Bluetooth firmware update worked. It also did not revert after the full software update. The radio booted faster this time than when I didn't update Bluetooth prior and the unit isn't glitching anymore. However we still don't have audio in CarPlay or Bluetooth. Don't know why but it has something to do with that new Bluetooth audio setting. I tried doing a full system reset post update and that didn't force the Bluetooth setting to kick over either. Not sure why but it still won't let you click Bluetooth audio on. But hey! Good news guys. You can now successfully
  14. Ok so I tried updating the Bluetooth with the 4100 update with the 4000 firmware. It worked. My device reads 3.41 for its Bluetooth now. Picture proof in a moment. Gotta upload to imgur. Edit. Here you go. Proof I have a 4000 and that I am using the 4100 Bluetooth firmware. http://imgur.com/5AmdK2O http://imgur.com/zNNnUdYCurrently reinstalling the hacked 1.03 update for the 4100. Let's see if it works better with the upgraded Bluetooth.
  15. Yep. I was able to jump back fine. No actually CarPlay runs everything including phone calls off USB. it's interesting to note that if I turned off CarPlay iPod audo would work off my phone, but with CarPlay on there is no sound.
  16. WARNING: there are things that don't work right now. On my 4000 I have no audio in CarPlay. It seems whatever handles the handoff of modes for the different audio stuff doesn't work in this. That's why android auto and CarPlay have no sound. This is something we may need to figure out by pulling pieces from the 1.08 firmware and seeing if they fit with the 1.03 firmware. Currently reverting to 1.08. Will let everyone know of the jump back is painless. Edit: yep the downgrade back worked without a hitch. Let's try to figure out how to get the bugs out of this firmware and start hav
  17. So you're saying it takes a little more work than just updating?
  18. I was bored and looked this up. A telling difference that there actually are some sort of hardware changes between the model years is in the displays. The 4000 has the same display unit as the 7000. The csx1194 unit. Same part used in a whole host of radios that they have been making for years. Here's a link for those interested. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=CSX1194 However the 4100 doesn't use this display. It has a brand new unit. It uses the CXE7770. This panel has never been used before. My thought is it is probably the same lcd, but they beefed up the sensor
  19. If he has a 4/4s their tv out is analog, hence the setting. The apple HDMI-lightning adaptor has no settings for the user to access.
  20. If you're talking about the appradio displaying ever so slightly shrunken video and general apps you're talking about the iphone/appradio glitching when it comes to handling overscan. Apple has a setting to turn this off for the apple tv but they have no such setting on the iphone.
  21. There are a few android based headunits you could look at. The most famous being the parrot asteroid smart. That way you can retain steering wheel controls, fm functionality and use a system that is fully compatible with your vehicle.
  22. The appradio is better. Multitouch vs resistive screen is the big key. I've heard from other users that the other units sometimes have problems with the appradio experience. The dedicated appradios work phenomenally better. Also, when are you in your car without your phone? That's just dangerous if you get in an accident.
  23. Also to answer your question, the iPhone 5 is controlled via bluetooth on the appradio. The lightning port provides it with video and audio and charging.
