  1. That is EXCELLENT info, Scott!!! I feel dumb for not trying that before now... It is not too bad scrolling from 1 to around 40-50 out of 98... Now I can do the same but in reverse!!! Thanks, Mark
  2. Agreed... Also, if you want to "page" down, you do not have to keep pressing the down arrow each time... You can just press and hold your finger on the down arrow and it will "scroll" through the list... Like aedus said, you will not see each individual page of names, but it will scroll through fairly quickly just holding down on the down arrow... After a while you begin to remember which page certain letters are on... ie - I know for my iPod the E's start around page 40 of 90... Good luck, Mark
  3. What do you mean by "Auto text functionality"??? The IP-Bus changers are CD TEXT compatible... The M-CD interface is not the exact same as the DISK interface, but it does indeed show title and text info... Good luck, Mark
  4. Hey guys, Here are some background that I created using various photos I found throughout the web... They are 500x240 in JPEG format... They should all work as I have tested them on my D3... Have fun and let me know what you think... Good luck, Mark
  5. Agreed whole heartedly... Mark
  6. Yep, that was me... I originally moved the mute wire to perform the bypass and later realized I still needed to be able to mute the radio from the car itself... So, I went to a local electronic store and purchased a $0.50 harness that looked as close as possible to the D3's white harness... The trick is to find a new harness that is tiny like the D3's white harness... The harness (and the pins inside of it) are a lot smaller than you think... Took the new harness home, removed one of its pin wires and then plugged it into the original mute slot of the D3's harness... So,
  7. I cannot speak for the VW itself, but... I was not that impressed with the Master Sheet from Crutchfield... It basically told me to connect the red wire to the red wire and the yellow wire to the yellow wire and so forth... The harness instructions already gave me that info... Oh, and common sense... For the Master Sheet I would assume that it would tell you where the VSS wire is for your vehicle and where to find the Reverse Wire and give you more specifics of your particular vehicle... For a "custom" document it was pretty darn generic in my opinion... Example, my Aviator ha
  8. You might try calling Pioneer and getting the contact info for your local Pioneer repair shop... The place you would send your unit to get warranty repairs made... I think the repair shops are different than the reseller/install shops... Contact them and see if you can order just the connector from them... Don't know, just an idea... Good luck, Mark
  9. I was in a similar situation... I preformed the hack but still wanted MUTE capabilities... My vehicle has reverse collision detection... It beeps when you get close to hitting something... So, I wanted my vehicle to MUTE the radio when it started to beep... So, I went to my local electronic store (but I am sure Radio Shack might work as well) and I bought a connector with wires connected to it that looked very similar to the D3 connector (it was only $0.50)... I removed a pin/wire from this new connector just like I did on the D3 and it was the exact same style of pin... Si
  10. I have no clue what would be causing that and/or if RESETING the D3 will make a difference... To answer your question about RESETING, there are two ways to RESET the D3... 1) Push the RESET button with the car off... 2) Push the RESET button with the car in ACC... One will erase all your preferences and one will not... Don't know off the top of my head which is which but it is detailed in the manual... Good luck, Mark
  11. Agreed... I put my GPS antenna under my dash and above my instrument cluster... I had about an inch or so of dead space between the top of my instrument cluster (speedometer, tachometer, etc) and the bottom of my dashboard... I stuck the sticky magnetic pad to the housing of the instrument cluster and then affixed the GPS antenna to that... It was tight, but it worked and it is 100% stealth... I am getting 8/8 bars about 75% of the time and 6/8 to 7/8 bars 25% of the time... Good luck, Mark
  12. This is a tricky subject... No matter what the aspect ratio of your monitor is (16:9, 4:5, etc) almost all DVDs are going to have black bars at the top and bottom... Even the most expensive plasma monitors still have black bars at the top and bottom with 16:9 DVDs... Unless you are watching an anamorphic DVD, you are going to get some (albeit small) black bars at the top and bottom of any sized monitor... Do a Google search on anamorphic versus 16x9 and you will get all sorts of info... Good luck, Mark
  13. No problem at all... Yes, the 6 and 12-Disk Changers have CD-TEXT capabilities... I have verified this on a couple of my CD-TEXT disks that I own... Good luck, Mark
  14. No, that is not correct... I am currently running Pioneer's 12-Disk CD-Changer through my D3 and I have full touchscreen control of the 12-Disk CD-Changer... The 12-Disk (and 6-Disk) CD-Changers only require the IP-BUS... The touchscreen control of the 12-Disk is sweet... You have a scrollable menu of disks (six per page - just like presets) on the left side of the screen... On the right you have your play/pause, track forward/backward, etc... On the top of the screen it tells you the current disk and track number and remaining time I believe... Disk swaps are VERY
  15. Correct... I looked into this as well... Pioneer's 6-Disk DVD-Changer requires the IP-BUS (which the D3 has) and the AV-BUS (which the D3 does not have)... Apparently, it has two selectable "modes" - INTEGRATED and STANDALONE... If your headunit has both the IP-BUS and the AV-BUS, you can use it in INTEGRATED mode and have full touchscreen control... If your headunit does not have both the IP-BUS and AV-BUS, you can use it in STANDALONE mode where you control the changer via its remote and route the audio/video through an AUX input... Good luck, Mark
  16. I have not tried yet... I will let you know... Mark
  17. I was previously using a Motorola v600 on T-Mobile and was also getting some very odd behavior... I did not experience the volume issue... But, when using the v600 the D3 would NOT stay on BT-TEL when I would receive a phone call... I could make a call fine... But, when I would receive one, the audio source would automatically start playing again when I answered the phone... The other person could hear the music but I could not hear them and they could not hear me talking... Crutchfield was going to send me a new BT200 unit... However, a friend of mine and I tried everything with a
  18. Yeah, my BTB200 is "broken" so CF is shipping me a new one... I was bummed when I heard they were back-ordered... The rep could not find any info as to when the next shipment was coming in... Mark
  19. I noticed I have this problem because the AVIC is inserting 1 in front of the area code... Example in my phone it says: 111-222-3333 That person calls and the phone recognizes that... However, on the AVIC is says: 1-111-222-3333 And, therefore does not recognize that and says UNKNOWN for the caller id... Mark
  20. Yes, once this occurs, if I manually switch back to the BT-TEL screen I can then hear the person through the speakers... Odd... Mark
  21. Wanted to follow-up with the latest news on this... I called Crutchfield and the guy (Tim) was super nice... He had me RESET the unit and confirm the BLACK and BLUE IP-Bus cables were correctly installed... He was pretty confident that those were the only two things that could cause something like this... Everything confirmed correctly... After that, he personally called Pioneer and then called me back with the info... Pioneer said that if I can MAKE calls successfully but cannot RECEIVE calls successfully that it must be an actual defective module... They said no installat
  22. I have created several 500x240 pixel @ 72dpi JPEG (standard non-interlaced) images and they all look good to me... I have attached one as an example... Good luck, Mark
  23. Cool... Thanks for the confirmation... I think I am going to first try making some changes to the settings on my phone... I think the phone is somehow "overriding" the BT200... If that doesn't work, I will then try pressing the RESET button on the BT200... We'll see... Thanks, Mark
  24. I successfully have my D3 and Motorola v600 paired together and auto-connecting!!! I can make calls FROM the D3 and all that works fine... However, the issue occurs when I try and RECEIVE a call through the D3... Say I am listening to the iPod: 1) Listing to music 2) D3 rings 3) D3 audio stops 4) D3 switches to BT-TEL 5) I press GREEN PHONE to answer call 6) D3 goes back to iPod and music plays (???) 7) Caller can here music playing but not me talking If I actually switch from iPod to BT-TEL via the menu or SOURCE KNOB it all works... Is this the way it is supp
  25. I am pretty sure each video source has (included NAV) has its own brightness/contrast/etc... You cant actually change the colors, but maybe you can use these settings to adjust them enough to suite your needs... Good luck, Mark
