jam2001
Reset the unit. Page 175 in the manual. Well I had another "duh" moment. Having not really used the VR much, I didn't realize the voice was waiting for me to talk. I thought it would ask me something, like "Say a command." Anyway, did the reset and it did at least cause the voice to sound better. Now, I'll have to reconnect my phone. Maybe the reception for my phone will have improved as well. Thanks to all. Couldn't have done the hack without the help here.
humblehyper
Do I need to ground the parking brake or something? I read somewhere about grounding the parking brake. Can someone help me please. Thanks.

humblehyper
OK read it. Just a recap after I move the mute wire (yellow) to the new location I need to tap the parking brake (green) and the newly relocated mute wire (yellow) to the ground wire (black) right? Thanks again. ederbsn
After doing the bypass my mic won't pick up my voice. It's like it's muted. Another thing is that my onstar works but it powers the whole thing down then powers back up after ending onstar. Any thoughts on causes on my problems and possible solutions? Thanx a bunch in advance!!!
VBLUE42
Has nothing to do with the bypass. Sounds like install error.
CaptainInsaneO
You have bumped the connection while doing the bypass, it's happened before. Check to make sure the plug is inserted all the way.
humblehyper
How do you guys pull out the mute wire from the plastic harness? Is there a trick to it? I don't want to force it out and damage it LOL
VBLUE42
It doesn't come out easily at all. The best way to get it out is to cut the plastic away along the plug with a razor.
CamelTowing
There was a Youtube video of some dude cutting it away if you choose to go that route. I had no problems getting it out using a mini flathead screwdriver to pry up the plastic strip and then a staple to get the pin out
humblehyper
I followed the video on youtube, and wow this thing is very hard to do, I hope I didnt damage the connection on the other slot LOL will try and install it tomorrow.
