Datsun
When I got my card from PacParts it copied just fine, no issues at all. Expensive but I got my unit running again. I thought that I had posted somewhere on here the steps I used to copy, and it was using the dd command.
1nopc
@Datsun I can understand your frustration with that situation! It can happen to anyone ordering online. I am sorry you had to go through that.. If it helps, I know you have helped others like me who are having issues with the radio and are trying to repair it avoid ordering replacement cards overseas. I did made sure to check where it was shipping from.. Silver linings are always bittersweet. Thanks for your input! I kind of figured that was the case.. either my card reader couldn’t read it or it was locked somehow. I figure that would be in the best interest for the seller.. As an update I used a Dremel to cut out a hole and tried the card like you suggested. It fixed the boot-loop/glitched startup failure, worked flawlessly and appreciably faster than the original when the original was working! So I’m not dissatisfied.. Wireless android auto and Apple CarPlay connect within 2 seconds of the unit clearing the warning screen! Steering wheel controls work as well.. so I assume I got an updated version of the firmware! It’s a w4500 I am loaning a family member so I was unable to properly test it. I’ll look into it further when I can setup a time. What I can say with attempting/failing a backup and the card still working says a lot about the seller’s original firmware/attention to detail. Is it ok to post the name of the seller from eBay? If not I can post a link of the item or dm the name. They have a few options just FYI.. cheap SD cards (non name brand), 2 pack of said cards, name brand cards, refurbished cards, name brand card w/ 18mo warranty. As for next steps, I did some research and found the original replacement SD card from PacParts has been superseded. (Original replacement SD Card part# QXX3352 , Superceded by part# CXY8316 for the AVH-W4500NEX. I found another seller on eBay selling the revision CXY8316 (unopened original replacement SD cards) from PacParts for a little over $50 after local tax! I ordered it yesterday after seeing how nice the replacement made the other unit work. Currently I have a w4500 installed in my car that is sluggish and doesn’t automatically connect to wireless android auto or CarPlay.. that’s why I’m so adamant about backing up the firmware image. I’ll post an update once I receive it and attempt a backup.

Even though I still encountered some hurtles. So have a ZF9350BT. Basically the SE Asian equivalent. On this unit the face is on a set of rails that slide out from the bottom which made this a challenge to get to the hidden SD card. The power went while I was working this at my kitchen table and I accidentally damaged the ribbon connection to the screen. Luckily I was able to have my local computer guy fix it for $60. But had a seemingly good idea. He asked if I intended to sell the head unit. I said no, I’ll use it till it bricks. He said well if you don’t mind just cut out an opening for next time. And that’s what we did. I’m trying to attach a few pictures but essentially he cut out a perfectly size opening to access the internal SD drive. Good idea, bro. I wish you have Image File of 9350 and like to share with me to save my 9250, appreciate to that. matt.wen@outlook
Squiffer
Has anybody successfully unlocked an SD card that has been locked by the 4500NEX? If so, mind sharing how you did it?
