    It allows it to use dead reckoning....so it is much more accurate with it hooked up...i can drive around in an underground parking garage and it still knows where I am based on the Gyros and the VSS

    Make sure you hooked up the amps remote turn on wire to the Z1s sys remote wire and not the auto antenna wire..

    No it wont....it detects motion via internal gyros...and bases speed on the GPS along with the Speed Sense wire..

    When you first get the one line boot message (cant remember what it says off hand) turn the lights on and off twice (ending with off)...

    Shouldn't really be any interaction as both are just recieve only, although I know most GPS antennas are "active" in that they are fed +5V, not sure about XM though...

    The Z1 doesn't record CDs...it only copies whats on the CD to its hard drive...

    Its not really using it like a dish, its using it as a ground plane, but you make a valid point, the center would be the best place for it...just looks a bit odd with the wire running out to it..
