  1. Not a huge development given that it already integrates well with the HU, but Pandora will make its way to CarPlay. At least we can finally stop having to give the phone permission to use Pandora. http://www.macrumors.com/2015/03/31/pandora-coming-to-carplay-apple-watch/
  2. Indeed, it's a very poor business practice for Pioneer to do business this way. While there may be a legitimate reason for it to not add Android Auto, there's no reason to stop supporting the '000 series. That said, I do not find it all that lacking as a radio and am not sure much else out there is better (which is why Pioneer can get away with providing awful customer service). I really do expect Pioneer to update to make the unit snappier, etc, and to function better overall, but never expected Apple-like updates. As for the functions they said were available and never provided, Avicsync an
  3. I have no idea how switches work and am too lazy to research right now (not sure this will even be out there, specific enough for me to understand). Will a 3amp switch work to turn the unit on/off? Specifically, something like: http://www.aironboard.com/online/push-switch-961gr-12volt-toyota-oem-replacement-power-green-red.html I know someone above said use a 10amp switch above, so I'm thinking this will not work but would appreciate a lesson from you guys.
  4. The idatalink stuff -- very half baked in these units as I understand it, but could be wrong. I'd just call or email pioneer and idatalink.
  5. The face is not removable on the 7000 & 8000. Only the 4000 has a completely removable face.
  6. Correct. Look up as an example (what I used) "Metra 70-8114 Steering Wheel Control Wire Harness with RCA for 2003-Up Select Toyota/Scion/Lexus Vehicles." This maybe what you need, but I don't know enough about your vehicle etc. The ASWC is very intimidating when you first get it because there are a ton of wires. Depending on your vehicle, you may only use three or so wires, in reality, but the adaptor takes most of the effort out.
  7. I Installed an ASWC-1 and it works just fine. Long press on the voice button for Siri. The pick up and hang up buttons only work to initiate and end calls. Install is really easy as they make specific adapters for Toyota. You can also program the buttons the way you want, although it's a pain in the ass so mine are all default.
  8. I tried using it at first. Once I realized it didn't do anything, I put it in the console and forgot about it.
  9. Did you check the wiring? Maybe the connection for the dim wiring is loose.
  10. Sometimes, not always, it seems like my 4000NEX gets bogged down by Carplay causing it to be extremely unresponsive to the point that it is useless. This usually occurs within a minute or two of startup. I have to turn off the ignition and restart to cure the issue. Anyone else have this issue? Should I wait longer to plug in my phone maybe?
  11. This is actually pretty clever. Please post your results.
  12. Agree, this is something that should be fixed, although I'm not certain it is something that can easily be remedied without loss of other functions.
  13. Wow, thanks Joemamma. That's really helpful information -- didn't realize the screen could be ordered directly. I don't have a scratch, but I worry with the constant removal of the screen assembly that it will eventually break. A few times I've already had issues with the screen making proper contact, although it may have been weather related.

  15. Turn down the alert volume in the bottom right of the screen.
  16. He's giving advice to the OP based on his own experience.
  17. If I wanted to do this (and I likely do not), is it your understanding that all credit card companies do this? I bought mine on a Discover Card - I know they have extended warranty coverage, but that's different from what you're describing.
  18. I have had intermittent problems with the touch screen on my 4000NEX. Indeed, I did this morning. All the way to work the screen was black and the only button that worked was the eject button. I removed the plate and put back on to no avail and after turning off and back on, it worked again. Has happened two or three times since I've had the radio. I wonder if it's a software issue as I notice the screen goes blank as soon as I touch it. But could be that it shuts off due to a bad connection to the unit.
  19. The US versions was edited to remove the reference. Probably a mistake and/or misinterpretation by the writer.
  20. It works -- it uses the iPhone mic for the triggering words though. If you put your phone away, it won't work, obviously.
  21. The call ending and first song playing sounds really annoying. I never get calls in car so I never knew it did that. One thing I hate is when listening to the radio (tuner) and i open Waze or something similar, the radio will stop playing and won't restart. Only way to get it back is to change modes off radio and then back. I assume this is because it is internally switching to usb, but the HU doesn't actuslly show the switch. Pretty annoying. It doesn't play the first song on my iPhone, however, which would be 10x worse.
