  1. Actually, my wife found it. This might be silly but I was surprised and never heard anyone mention it here. It's a a cool feature for the map. I have a Z1 with the two wire by-pass along with a bunch of other goodies. You know how on the map, you can touch an area and "center" there? You can keep plunking your finger down to touch a spot to the right or to the left and move around the map away from where you are. This week my wife put her finger on the map pointing to something and held it there and the map kept scrolling and scrolling. As long as your finger is held down, it will sc
  2. Outhouse, didn't realze that's where you were going with the post so I take back the hi-jack comment. I hear what you're saying about the price but bottom line is there's nothing out there that's better at a lower price. I put mine in a 2007 Denali (moved from a Suburban) and I looked at the factory NAV, wasn't impressed. Thoght more of the Pioneer with the built in HD.
  3. Well, this thread got high-jacked to temp problems... MadMonkey was asking about EBay sellers. I personnally wouldn't buy an expensive electronic system from an EBay seller but apparently a lot of people have and it's been successful. One recent post is: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8934 EBay is safer than Craig's List so you'll probably be fine. There are methods to protect yourself so good luck. I'm an almost 2 year owner of a Z1 and very pleased. Just waiting for the DVD to be released from Pioneer to update it now that it's confirmed it will still work with
  4. I had a lot of problems with a Treo W and WX. I did not try the latest software that recently came out but instead picked up an iPhone. Not the fully functional PDA but pretty close. The Treo was horrible with the Z1. When it worked, lots of echo. No changes to the Z1 or mic and the new phone works great. I was surprised. I figured bluetooth was bluetooth but a difference there was. Email is the only thing that is not as good yet other than sync'ing over the air for calendar and contacts. Sync's great over the cable bidirectionaly. Email with Exchange is a problem unless you're wi
  5. Thanks guys. There hasn't been a good flame war here for a while and this has been entertaining. Made my Sunday morning You put some good effort into it. I like the links to supporting evidence! digxrayguy
  6. Do you know how much of an area a repeater covers? Is it like an AM signal, an FM signal or a cellular signal? I was also on a long weekend trip to Vegas last weekend and had a signal to Bakersfield, spent the night there, had no signal in the AM for the drive to Vegas but had it on the way back three days later. Weird stuff. If you're confident the Sat coverage has been good, I'm gonna be questioning my hardware but it's strange to be intermittant the way it is. digxrayguy
  7. Your question is a little unclear. It sounds like you have the icon where you can shut up the guidance voice on the bottom right activated and not in shut up mode. Other than that, yes you have to have a destination selected to get help. If your grayed out, you must not have the bypass set up but if you stop, you should still be able to set a destination and have the lady telling you where to go. That's also the only way to get NavTraffic to warn you of pending slow downs in front of you for re-routing options. It has to know where you're going to help you out. If your question is not an
  8. I live in Northern Cal and drive a lot visiting customers in the Bay area and Redding to Freno out to Reno. In the valley, with no obstructions, lately I seem to be with no signal often, 2 or 3 times a week. Antenna looks good, on the same trip a few hours later after spending time with ripped or CD based stuff, it'll be working again. It appears to me that the sattelite signal is just not there more often than I would have expected. Is anyone else noticing this on the West coast? I have on occaison checked the signal strength and it's there or not there depending on the availability of D
  9. I updated my 700wx to an iPhone - all resetting problems went away, blue tooth works great, much better hi res screen I can read with out glasses or huge fonts, lots of smiles on my face for a very cool OS... OK, I'm being a ass but I got so pissed at the crap OS from MS and the need to reset it all the time and just plain stupid stuff. The change has been very nice and working well. digxrayguy
  10. It's not as good as something like Parrot but I discovered that a different phone is a lot better. I had a Treo 700wx that was nothing but trouble needing to be reset very often. New phone (not a Treo) - bluetooth sounds pretty good. I also changed carriers from Verizon to ATT. Someone mentioned the GSM models seem to do better then the CDMA. All third hand, no practible experience on that but it's an interesting thought. Digxrayguy
  11. With mine, I don't have a menu but if I pick up the phone and hit the answer button on the phone, it's private. If I hit the answer button on the Z1, it's on the speaker/mic. Pretty simple for my use. Digxrayguy
  12. I got the 8GB model. $699.00. A case and a car charge and I put down close to $750.00. So far I'm happy but it's a lot for a phone. Now I'm thinking about the iPod to Z1 connector but XM keeps me pretty happy. It's GSM so I'm surprised it's not up North? I do have to admit I've not been an Apple fan but my wife was shopping in some clothing store and next door was an Apple store. Ten minutes in the hand and that's all it took. I'm a sucker for toys and it's got an amazing OS. Needs a lot but it's very acceptable the way it is. Digxrayguy
  13. Got rid of my POS Treo WX that needed to be reset once a day for an iPhone. Works very well. With the Treo, I had echo complaints and the bluethooth update disk did not help - at all. Did all the other tricks with phone volume way down, reset the Z1, re-pair etc, etc. Still lots of Echo. With the iPhone, easy pair, works great. No echo, decent sound for whom I'm calling. Not as good as my Parrot I had before the Z1 but way better and I refuse to wear bluetooth jewlery. DigitalX-RayGuy
  14. Baited breath here guys... Any luck with the CD's that we're supposed to be recieved today? I'd like to buy it but am waiting for a by-passable version like many others. Your follow up is gratly appreciated. Digxrayguy
  15. You probably should try a new mic. That and/or a different phone to try and isolate the source of the problem. Good Luck. Digxrayguy
  16. Datahex1000 is right on but a couple of other thoughts to throw out is you probably have external inputs that you can bring another source into it for testing like a portable DVD or game system. If that's cool, it's the wiring. try a shielded set of wires (a little more expensive but worth it) and it should be less suseptible to RFI. I'd run it overland first (not tucked in and hidden) to make sure it works first but you probably have interference. If the current cable is cheap and long, that can contribute also. If after all that and the problem still exists but you've proven the monitor
  17. First - Raffle is a great idea; I'm down but I seem to remember you had to have certain non-profit status to run a raffle and since you have no idea who is on this forum, it should be thought out how to create and run the raffle. Second - I wasn't going to advertise this but DB has contributed so much to this forum, he should not only be trusted with this idea, he should get a little something out of it also. When I got my system up with a by-pass, I "purchased" a component off his web site but told him to not really ship me anything, I was just pleaed with the work he does with a huge am
  18. It's too hard to use the unit without the bypass, really takes away the functionality and I agree, movies are stupid to have on while driving but choosing a POI or entering an address isn't that hard. I'm obviously waiting to hear the results when the upgrade comes out for exisitng Z1's. I'm wondering if the circuitry (wiring) is different on the Z2's and the upgraded Z1's will be OK??? Time will tell but I'm sure going to wait until I hear success from an upgrade. Maybe that's where T had the success already, on the upgrade since he seems to have an in. digxrayguy
  19. Digxrayguy - I started as a service engineer installing and repairing xray and related equipment. When xray started going digital, that's about when I started getting into sales of this stuff and after about 15 years of that, I now have my own company selling and installing digital xray stuff.
  20. It is a Bose system and my suspicion has been the PAC OS3 which is doing a lot in between the vehicle and the HU. I'll go look at possibility of grounding. This Z1 was recently moved from a Suburban to this vehicle and the problem is new so I also doubt it's the Z1. Luckily it's not happening much and it's an easy fix but the interface works better in the Denali than the interface did for the Suburban. Steering wheel controls are more reliable and there's a couple of other functions with the OnStar phone that are better. Thanks for the input and I'll report back Digxrayguy
  21. Wondering if anyone else experienced this problem. It’s pretty intermittent so not a big deal. Once every two weeks or so the Z1 sound is muted when starting the car and taking off. No sound at all from key insertion on out of Z1. That includes XM, CD, and Library. I hit the OnStar phone button, the lady asks what you want to do (call?, dial? Etc.), hit the button again to shut her up and the music comes back? At first I was stumped for a while but now that I know what’s muting the sound, I can get it back quickly but it’s annoying. 2007 Denali XL, PAC OS3, Post June 6 Z1, bypass
  22. MichaelJames99, I'm using a Advent w/12" screen. Just composit, looks great. It's also bi-directional since the Advent came with a DVD/CD/MP3/games player. I can play DVD's on the Z1 and they look good on the Advent or the Advent can play a DVD and I can view it and play the audio through the Z1. Kudo's need to go to JoshS since he's the one that turned me on to the PACOS3 but I paid to have it installed. Too old to bother with that any more. Good luck. digxrayguy
  23. Go to page 8 of this thread and you'll see the phone number for Pioneer support. Call them and they will send you a CD, no questions asked. They did not even ask for my serial number, just name and address. It worked great and came very quickly. Digitalxrayguy
  24. The adapter for the 2007 Denali is the PAC OS3-Bose: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product. ... uctid=9359 It works great. The only functionality I lost was the ability to fade front to rear - no big. OnStar works, the phone which is a Verizon phone works well (better than the BT in the Pioneer), Ducati boys override has all else working very well to access all functions. One other area that cost me a little extra but I like is that the built in factory rear screen could not be incorporated since it was looking for a can-bus signal to turn the unit on. I had a 3rd party rear screen i

    fit in 350Z?

Two I'll throw out. tillithz posts a lot on this site with a lot of good and acurate information. He's in Oakland and I don't know him but it's obvious "he knows of what he speaks". I'm down in Fremont and before learning he was close, I went to Autohaus in Hayward. No complaints - decent all around. digxrayguy
