  1. I did the hardware bypass and the unit is working great
  2. The Kenwood Bluetooth is far from flawless it just depends on what phone you are using. The Pioneer Bluetooth works much better with my iPhone 3G. I had a DNX5120 and both units have their pros and cons. For me I am happier with the Pioneer
  3. I just looked on Amazon and the prices were all arould $700 for the F90BT Seller's Price:$695.44 - quantity: 1 Shipped from: 6ave
  4. I upgraded my Dell Laptop to Vista from XP Media Center Edition. I never had any problems with it but also had to upgrade the ram from 2 gig to 4 gig. And the battery life went from a little over 4 hours to 2 1/2. So I ended up going back to XP
  5. they are both great units but I think the Pioneer has better features. And for sound quality the F90BT sounds ten times better than the Kenwood did. Maybe its the 4 volt preouts
  6. I'll take your word for it. Never saw that in the manual. That was never that important to me anyway. I liked the Kenwood but the main reason I switched was the bluetooth unit didn't work that well with my iPhone 3G. Kenwood released an iPhone 3G specific bluetooth update that made the call quality acceptable. But most of the other features wouldn't work, no phonebook download and the voice control for bluetooth was useless. Now that I have been using the Pioneer I find the IGO nav actually routes better than the Garmin in the Kenwood did. At least for me. And the Pioneer sounds 10 times bette
  7. The update was really a big improvement. I had a Kenwood DNX5120 that I replaced with my F90BT. The Kenwood was nice but for me I like the features of the Pioneer better.
  8. Was an easy update and works great for me.
  9. For the category list yes. For all the info on song artist and station on one channel you are listening to, No it does not
  10. That is false. If anything its the SB-10 module. The SCC1 worked fine with the Kenwood DNX5120. I just pulled a DNX5120 out of my car last weekend to put in my F90BT. The Sirius interface is virtually identical. One line of information. That you can change to show Station, Artist , composer, or song. Pic of my DNX5120
  11. Got mine to update tonight. I had to disconnnect the IP Bus for the Sirius tuner. Then it worked fine. The instructions said to remove any USB devices or ipods before the update but didn't mention the IP Bus unit. Maybe that is a form of USB ? Any way it worked Thanks for all the suggestions
  12. The Kenwood DNX5120 uses the same Sirius tuner module. Only one line of info just like the Pioneer. The newer tuners are smaller and I guess dont support 3 lines of info.
  13. Mine was doing the exact same thing. Got mine to update tonight. I had to disconnnect the IP Bus for the Sirius tuner. Then it worked fine. The instructions said to remove any USB devices or ipods before the update but didn't mention the IP Bus unit. Maybe that is a form of USB ? Any way it worked
  14. I tried everything listed above and have the right update. I even tried downloading it and decompressing it on a different computer. My F90BT is on 1.001700 so it should take the update. I'm going to get another SD card tomorrow and try it. Maybe it doesn't like the one I have.
  15. I cant seem to get the update to start, I know its probably something simple. I followed Pioneers instructions and downloaded and decompressed the files then thansferred them to a Fat 32 formatted Sandisk 2 gb SD card. But when I put it in the unit just starts up and no update. Any ideas anyone? Something simple I am over looking? LOL
  16. if you used and adapter to connect the new radio to the Bose system check if it has a gain level adjustment on it. I had to use a METRA GM-LAN-04 in my car and until I turned the gain up a bit there was a lot less volume than the factory head unit.
  17. It looks like it is still showing the 25% discount for certain products. I also see it for WII and Apple products (macbook pro and iphone) but not Avic. Maybe it will come back. I would keep checking
  18. how can your kenwood take 1 minute to get in the navigation screen??? in about 20 sec i can start to search for an address and create the route in my wifes car who has the dnx5220 (eu version)... this will take more then a minute before i can even get to the address search menu with my 900 I didn't say it took a minute to get to the navigation screen. I said it takes a minute on average and sometimes two to get a gps signal. The Kenwood isn't perfect either is what I meant. And to me even after reading this forum I am sure I will like the AVIC better.
  19. Glad to hear it. My F90BT should be here anytime. I have a Kenwood DNX5120 right now. And it takes about a minute to get to full functionality and get a gps connection. I dont think the F90BT will be any worse and the Pioneer just seems more customizable. I love modding and making it my own and I think I'll like it better.
  20. I'm in California too. Made sure I used an out of state seller, LOL
  21. Good to hear. I got the Squaretrade warranty on mine. LOL
  22. Did the eBay thing too. Also $489 after $200 cashback for my F90BT. Great Deal !!!
  23. Pioneers site says Amazon is authorized and they have some decent prices
  24. Do you have experience with this iphone update? Did it improve the performance or anything like that?? Im so close to buying this unit, but still trying to make some final decisions and come to terms with spending 1500! If you have experience with this update and iphone usage on the 8120 it would be greatly appreciated. Thank u I have a DNX5120 and an iPhone 3G. The update made the sound quality excellent. The update is 1.61 and Kenwood emails it to you. I've also read on other forums the same update is available for the 8120 and works great.
