  1. No, it doesn't have to be connected to your reverse wire (unless you want to watch the DVD when you are going backwards )
  2. I disagre, I think that the first two are entirely software based. However, checking for Artist rather than just songs is likely hardware based.
  3. Don't forget to set your rear video output to DVD and not MIRROR (in your AV menu).
  4. To correct myself: You don't have to be in dual-view (I tried it today), but any view will do. And I think the setting you're looking for is on page 46 of the owner's manual ("Display maneuver arrow)."
  5. Couldn't you tap in directly from the headlight? I don't know if the illumination wire can get too much power, though. One of the "install gods" on this forum probably has a better idea.

    USB Adapter

Can I get "pissy" 'cuz I didn't fully read the description on my Sirius adapter and expected it to have, at least, the same features my cheaper Sportster?

    AVIC Z-2 - Newbee

Actually, the folder should be called "Pictures" and you will also need to make sure that the CD has at last 100 mb of data on it. I usually create a folder called "dummy" and fill it with 100 mb of junk. I think that the only restriction is that there can't be any mp3 in it (or anywhere on the CD). I know this works for the backgrounds and for the address book (waypoints) pictures. I don't know how it works for the bluetooth, or if it's a different thing, as I don't have the BT adapter yet.
  8. Curiouser and Curiouser... digitalcraze.com is registerd to a company called E&S CONSULTING EMPORIUM INC. Who is also at the same Rahway, NJ address. Many different company names. I wonder if it means anything? Well, you'll get a better deal at palmbeachdigital ($8 off)
  9. Can't seem to find them on the Better Business Bureau web site. They must be pretty new. Hmmm... Here is what I could find, though... palmbeachdigital.com is registered to a company called "Digital dot com" That company doesn't have a bbb report either, but when I did a search for a company "Digital..." at that address in Rahway,NJ, I got a company called "Digital Craze Corp." That company has 1 complaint against them and that one is listed as "Company failed to respond to the BBB to resolve or address the complaint issues" If you want to see what the area that they operate o
  10. Or you could just do the bluetooth update and use the "bypass wire" bypass. Sorry to take money out of your hands ducati!
  11. Hahaha! That is pretty good. However, you may want to work on your confrontational skills if you plan on being a cop! I hear people aren't always gloriously happy to see a law officer and I think that calling someone a "cockstar" while reading Miranda is, technically, against the rules! Although, it would bring a whole new dimension to Law & Order!
  12. Yeah, I was basing my theory that the Z1 and Z2 are, internally, identical. Again, I'm not sure what the effects of simply overwriting the .DLL would be. I don't have much experience (read: any experience) writing .DLLs and haven't even written in low-level code since high school (never mind how long ago! ).
  13. You might also want to try it with two "untouched" drives (i.e. Avics that have never been turned on). You might just be looking for a changed file, that would have a different file size. having to "fresh" drives might make that easier. Not likely to happen, I know.
  14. Hmmm... I wonder if there isn't something to all this? It seems to me that the Z1 EDDC driver must have had some logic like: "If ( gyros say vehicle is moving OR gps says vehicle is moving OR parking brake is off ) AND bypass wire isn't grounded THEN send out a "We're moving" signal to the listening applications. The new EDDC likely has the same logic minus the bypass wire part. If you could pull the EDDC driver off the Z1 and replace the Z2's with it, maybe the old bypass would work again since it would be looking for the bypass wire. I'm just not sure if you can simply chan
  15. I believe that you have to have it in "Dual-view", and then there is another setting somewhere that puts the "next two turns" arrows.
  16. It will allow you to view the rear camera right out of the box. You just have to choose which map display you want; in this case, the rear camera (with the mini-map on the side). Can't help you with the onstar or vss or illumination, but perhaps someone else here can.
  17. If you connect the reverse wire, it will switch automatically to the rear view when you put it in reverse. There is also a mode that lets you view the map in the right side quarter of the screen and the rear camera on the left. The illumination will automatically dim the screen when you turn on the light. It will also switch the map to night mode.

    z2 multi-source?

On the AV screen, there is a button that controls the rear output (DVD, video, or mirror).
  19. I'd be willing to bet, that if they can't remove your radio, they'll smash it in spite.
  20. Group them into playlists ("My Favorites").
  21. You could also put a toggle switch on the reverse wire. This way you would have the video full screen, albeit with the reverse message at the top. The audio does play, it just gives you a warning that you can't play video while the car is moving. I guess this is so you can still watch a movie on the rear monitors and listen to it through the car audio.
  22. Or ground the parking wire, through a toggle switch. This way when the switch is on, you get the rear video feed.
  23. Or try pluging in your son's PS3 into the camera input. If the picture is clear, then it's likely your camera. If the picture is dark, then probably the Z1 is at fault.
  24. Nope, Nero 6 won't do it (at least 6.3 doesn't). I have heard that Roxio will, though. If 6.6 does, then likely 7 will too. That being said, once you make an audio DVD, I think that you should be able to include CD TEXT, that is artist/title information right on to the DVD. This way the Z1 can read the info directly from the DVD. At least it works this way using a CD. Another alternative is to use a CD-RW and just re-record. Still long, but you aren't wasting a bunch of CDs.
  25. I didn't say it had been recalled. Guess I was just adding to the argument that it hadn't been recalled. I suppose since none of us has heard of a recall we can definitely be sure that it hasn't been. Sorry to waste your time.
