1. do you have any type of bypass installed? most of the options are greyed out if you install your system as per pioneer and dont have the e-brake on.
2. I was soo excited earlier i posted this in the wrong forum and i made the pictures so big you couldnt see them. Ill do better this time i hope I have everything done now including the vss, the reverse, and the illumination wires. Some of these were very hard for me to find so i hope this helps someone else out a little. i kinda forgot to take before pics but we all know what the stock chevy stereo looks like anyway. on with the pics.
3. id be happy to do it for ya. it only takes about a minute. pm me
4. ok i figured it out you have to remove the bottom half of the dash and there are 5 harnesses. the farthest right, closest to the passenger side has only 3 wires. The farthest left or drivers side wire is light green. Thats the one. its is only hot when the key is in the run position and the truck is in reverse. Works like a champ. im gunna post pics on the general forum in a minute.
5. Ok i cannot find the reverse wire on my 04 silverado. I have tried numerous forums and have gotten lots of wrong information. Does anyone know for absolute fact where the reverse wire is located inside the cab? thanks for any help
6. i think thats awesome. A big problem with moving hard drives is the disc platters can become damages. with this there is no platter to scratch. this would probobly make more companies to design hard drives into their units. CHEAPER BETTER
7. i have also noticed this. It seems there is a finite number of business numbers stored in the z1. if there is for example 850 555 1212 and the next number is 850 555 1222, as soon as you push that second 1 it knows that you must want that number. The problem comes when a number is new and not in the z1 or a number has changed. I would suggest against routing to a far away destination based just on the number. try calling that number to make sure its still accurate.
8. Well i have had mine for about a month now, and i love it. My gps antenna is mounted inside my truck UNDER the dash. Its completely invisible and i get great satalite coverage. I generaly get 7 out of 8 satalites. Occasionally on bad weather days i might only show 6 and the lowest i have seen is 5. But even on those days my navigation was spot on. I was also leary of all the bad coverage reviews but you have to consider the antenna location and so forth. The ipod browser seems to be the biggest flaw. I do not have an ipod i have an RCA lyra. its a 40 gig and i just hooked it up to the aux inpu
9. i had tried a few times to make an mp3 cd that would play on teh z1 and failed. I found my mistake, i was using the multisession format which wont work. i never even noticed that before because its automatically checked. I had to uncheck it. now it works fine. you can put about 8-12 albums on 1 disc. and its very easy to search from album to album , better than the ipod.
10. i mounted my gps antenna inside the vehicle. its way up front hear the front of the dash and i get great satalite signal. ive never had all 8 lock in at the same time but i nearly always have seven. occasionaly i have had only 6 but thats been on bad weather days and in the woods. My guidance is spot on. it never shows me on wrong roads and its very very accurate. anyway thats just another option for ya
11. "fosting" nice sniglet!! lol
12. hey attilas, how did you burn the mp3 dvd? i also tried and had no luck, the z1 said disc cannot be read or something like that? what program did you use to burn? and did you do anything special? thanks for any help
13. several people have already made faceplate covers for their z1's. I am making one now as a matter of fact. Its kinda time consuming but they look so stock that unless you try to turn it on you would probobly never know its not real. and most thives dont want to steal your stock ford cassette player anyway
14. if this helps any at all... i have a chevy silverado. i did not connect the backup wire yet but i did connect the vss wire. when i back up the unit shows my arrow moving backwards, not flipping around and pointing the wrong way, just backing up. I guess it knows this based on vss info. I have ordered a cam and plan to run the back up wire just havent yet. im too busy playing with my new toy to take it out again. lol hope some of this helps.
15. well thats good news. I do tow things and thats why i didnt want to mount the camera too low. But since i tow things i didnt want to mount it with no view of the hitch or at least close to the hitch
16. someone else posted a similar problem.. im trying to think about how i use mine.. i think i push the voice guy thingy... then say call, then say phonebook.. see if that works for ya.
17. ooohhh.... thats different
18. the z1 definatly has an eq. I have mine tweeked perfectly. What a huge difference in the sound it has made. I had a 100% stock system, all i did was the z1, HUGE difference. while you are in an audoi mode push the av settings button i think it is, then on top there are two tabs one for audio and for system i think. All the audio options are off course in audio.
19. yep thats it. I also have the july unit. I just spliced the parking brake wire and the new wire from the connector and grounded them both to the same place. works like a champ..
20. a very easy way to fix this is just to find another power source. there are many things in your car that do not turn off when you try to start it. just find one and tap your wire to that. some things are cigarette lighters, domelights, headlights, horn, flasher lights, etc.
21. hey sportsfan. i bought just about the saem camera. Do you have yours installed yet? if so could you post a pic of the display? thanks
22. I ordered a small rear view camera. i decided not to use pioneers just because the thing is too big. I have an 04 silverado and i want to mount the camera either in teh tailgate handle bezel or on that plastic tailgate protector on top. My question for all you people( especially chevy people) is has anyone done this or at least seen or heard or this being done? I dont think its gunna be too hard but its always nice to follow someones elses experience. btw... i still love the z1
23. thats both awesome and sad. I also have teh i730. i loaded all my contacts 1x1. took like an hour. oh well if i ever need to do it again im set, thanks for the tip
24. hey man sweet install. Everyhting looks nice and clean. Did you do this yourself or did you have an installer? Im kinda curious about the camera. Did you just remove the old lock cylinder and insert the cam? did you have to make any mods?
25.
Also the Backup Camera comes on when I start the engine and doesn't go off until I change screens. It is connected to the rear back up light but changing the gears has no effect. John
As far as your back up camera is concerned, I would bet that your reverse light lead is connected to your tail lights and not your back up lights. That long purple and white wire should go to a reverse signal. Its sounds like yours is hooked to your tail lights which would come on when you start you car if your foot is on the brake. but who knows i could be crazy.. well
