  1. While I can't speak to your 120's,IIRC the GPS antenna from my Z140 worked with my 8200 when it was installed.Maybe check the "accessory" listing for your units at Pioneer and see if they're the same?
  2. I see you've updated both units involved in the problem. IIRC,the latest Pioneer update includes a change to reduce noise when the head unit is connected to an Apple device. Have you tried a factory reset?
  3. You're welcome.I think it was bottom right for the maps in naviextras. The bottom left was the extras.I did maps first and noticed it.I installed the extras and then plugged it into USB 1 on the head unit.Did you do the firmware updates as well?I noticed the navigation software got REAL glitchy and hard to load after that update.
  4. I had a problem with my updates not working.I found there was map updates and "other" updates listed.Do both.
  5. First off: 1. Did you do both updates when you used Naviextras to download the maps? 2. In the GPS settings,it tells you what the map versions are.
  6. To be honest,I would expect the OEM's to support map updates for the duration of the vehicle's warranty period or at least one year with the option to upgrade to lifetime for a nominal fee. These radios are a luxury aftermarket add-on to a vehicle. My Garmin 3590 CAME with lifetime free updates. I also bought lifetime updates for my previous 755T at the princely sum of $90 directly from Garmin. That unit came with one year free. There was two updates for it before I had to pay for more. So how badly is this wonder toy out of date on maps by now? You can buy ONE update for $120 and it ev
  7. Realistically the updates should be free and on a timely basis. We shouldn't have to pay for them. That's just cheesy and an insult to their customers. As for using phone maps, that's not why people buy these units. The indash is supposed to be able to do this accurately. When said accuracy is iffy at the initial point of purchase,is the manufacturer not committing an act tantamount to fraud by not allowing for at least one free update with the option to buy lifetime options later? Why do they not state the maps are only accurate to the best of their knowledge at the date of purchase? To
  8. I would think that BlueTooth and backup camera updates should come directly from Pioneer for free, not from Navteq on a paid basis ... if I read this right.
  9. They probably don't want to kill off sales of the stuff already in the pipline.
  10. Sounds like you've answered your own question. Get the 8400 and a Garmin GPS.
  11. I've talked to them directly on the phone and although they may not have the best attitudes, ultimately money still talks. Let's see if that holds true.
  12. They may not,but if enough people complain and they feel it willl hurt sales................
  13. Don't be surprised if they put that stuff back in on the next update. It would be nice to go back if you don't like the install though. I wonder what O/S these things run on?
  14. Very enlightened of you to resort to name calling. Very intelligent indeed. My point was why bother. The Z140 interface leaves much to be desired anyway. You do seem to agree in a roundabout way with this comment: "Oh, ignore that troll, but I wouldn't be chomping-at-the-bit to install the latest (Z140) upgrade yet" BTW,your sentence structuring needs some work.
  15. I beg your pardon, but I hope you weren't refering to me. The GUI on this thing is a joke, especially the radio. It could have been laid out much better and a little colour added. If I had an older unit,I wouldn't bother upgrading to Z140 specs.
  16. I wouldn't bother with a firmware upgrade to the Z140. It's garbage. A two year old Chimpanzee could do better. Someone needs to hack this piece of crap and do it right. The GUI sucks and the O/S has WAY too much garbage built into it....but that's just my take.,
  17. Should be easy enough. Motorola already made their Atrix into into a laptop capable piece with a simple and relatively cheap addon unit. Think somebody like Apple,HTC or Samsung couldn't do that? The two units could be "mated" for life. The anti-theft ramifications alone are worth the trouble.
  18. A simple docking station would cure most of those concerns.
  19. I get that feeling a lot too. The O/S needs a serious rework.
  20. TBH,I don't dislike what the unit *appears* to be capable of doing. I just think they tried to cover too many bases with the firmware. If I could remove the Apple functionality from it,I would. That should be optional. I also want to root my Sensation and get rid of all the spyware [location tracking garbage]. It just loads the phone down, but that's another story.
  21. Eeyup,I found that out the hard way more than once. The sad part is that I bought this thing to get GPS,Bluetooth ,etc. all in one. I think I'll keep the Garmin mount on the dash.
  22. OEM car electronics take how long? You sure about that? I know some automotive engineers who work for the big three. As to leaving it in the car under "extreme conditions",why? If I could unplug it and take it with me,why not? I think I read on this board where a guy uses an IPad for a killer car stereo. This is a lot different than "designing a plane". They've had a few previous iterations of this unit to perfect the operating system/GUI and this is what we got? I seem to remember seeing a vid' on YouTube where a guy actually put a later version of IOS on a 3G and it ran per
