grantpant
Yeah dude. The guy that installed it did that for me. i've never had to mess with the parking break (i don't have to touch it to watch DVDs parked). Then if i pull off and start driving, the video will cut out when i hit 10mph. So those steps look right to you?

OJC12
So how do I do this software mod?? my unit keeps reebooting only when in motion with the Navi antenna hooked up. without it, it works fine. any ideas?? everything is hooked up properly.
OJC12
I have confirmed that changing the parking_break_speed value in the DATA.zip file (/project_config/pioneer.ini) does in fact bypass the video/gps restriction without changing any wiring. I set the value to 128.0 (thought it odd that they picked 16, so I assumed they were using the standard 1,2,4,8,16 binary notation so I chose a number that would fit in that series, hence 128). I know this works because I just installed this unit 2 days ago and did NOT use any bypass. With the change made to the ini file, I can now enjoy video while traveling up to 128 MPH

If your unit is rebooting with the antenna installed then you have a serious problem. If you haven't already, I recommend you install Pioneer's update and see if that corrects your problem. ikaris
Thanks for this info. Did it on my 90BT and it works great (with the parking wire grounded).
WeApOn
After reading over the thread, it looks like the parking break wire needs to be grounded as well. This should really be made clear in the first post on this thread, as I'm going to need to do more work now and I thought this software bypass was true to it's nature, a software bypass which doesn't involve and labor. Â Circuit City did my install today, what are the chances I can bring it back and tell them to ground the parking break wire?
WidowMaker
very unlikely
WeApOn
Indeed, I had to do it myself. Though the only scary part was getting behind the unit, but I was able to do it and it works great now!
