You still need to ground the parking brake wire if you're doing the software bypass. You just do not need to relocate and ground the mute wire.

Yeah, it's called the AVIC-N5

The biggest difference is the ipod's ability to browse through the songs by album, genre, artist, etc. as well as use playlists. With the SD card, it's either random play or in the order you have them on the card. The ipod is much, much more user friendly.

I'm guessing the previous owner did not have the AV harness installed. You will need a new AV wiring harness if you want to hook up an amplifier. LINK

I don't really think that the hardware in the F series is capable of running a full operating system, like OSX or Windows XP. Those operating systems use much more system resources than the Windows CE that is on it does. You'd probably be looking at like 3 or 5 minute boot times and really slow response, assuming it would even work in the first place.

Yes, it is true that the screen size is a little bit smaller than the other double DIN nav units... but the screen also has a much higher resolution, which makes it look a lot better.

The unit doesn't remember the position of the song on USB/SD
HiFiSi replied to sergio's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Yep. This is just how the SD card audio playback works. Not much you can do about it aside from editing your 3 hour audio files, breaking them up into shorter segments... -
Here's a little test to eliminate 1 possibility... do you have audio when using the AM/FM radio and not when using any other audio source?

Almost all of the big problems that the F series units had were fixed with a firmware update from Pioneer. And it's rumored that another firmware update is on it's way. You most likely will not be disappointed with the unit, especially at the prices you can get them for now.

And a wireless network somewhere within range, of course. Probably not going to pick one up driving down the highway...

F700BT Can't access system/Navi Settings ... help
HiFiSi replied to danielwesley's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Yeah... sorry. I put the wrong link in there. My bad. -
No, they did not do anything wrong. This is exactly how the unit is meant to work, along with pretty much every other nav/DVD unit on the market. Video, navigation functions, etc. are not available to use unless the parking brake is engaged because of legal reasons. Yes, if every automobile on the market had an automatic transmission they could possibly make it so it looks for the PARK signal from the transmission, but cars are also available with manual transmissions, which do not have PARK like automatics do. So the parking brake switch has to be used. Again, they did absolutely nothing

You can turn up the SLA setting for whatever sources you are use except for the AM/FM radio. There's also loudness and EQ settings that can be adjusted. But no, there's no way to have the unit play louder than the maximum volume... that's why it's called the maximum volume.

F90BT - Anyone have a hard drive working?
HiFiSi replied to whoopidoo2's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Yes, an ipod on an F-series is like 50 million times as user friendly as hooking up a hard drive to it. -
F90BT bricked my 6th Generation iPod!!!!@#$!

Electronics 101: When in doubt, reset if possible. -
^ Pretty much... I don't think it looks all that great... but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yes, it will work. Will it be fun or convenient to navigate 9GB worth of music files without the aid of a music library organizational system? Hell no lol.
-
Does mute still work? YES If the unit has to be sent in to warranty will this void it? NO Is this also for the F90? YES
-
No, you can not use a USB hub. It says so right in the owner's manual. As well as numerous posts here.
-
Yes. Blue dot = updated firmware.
-
Oh yeah... I totally forgot about that! Sorry about the dead end PM lol. Yeah... the parking brake needs to see a sequence of ground/no ground/ground. Like if it were actually hooked to your parking brake, you would have to engage, then disengage, then engage again the parking brake. You can use a toggle switch to replicate this effect. Just put in a toggle switch, wire thew parking brake wire to one pole on toggle switch and the other pole on the toggle switch to a ground. Then simple flip the toggle switch ON/OFF/ON and the unit will be bypassed. You will have to repeat the process every tim

That is a portable navigation unit. How much is the update for one of the major manufacturer's IN DASH navigation units like the D3? You cannot compare apples to oranges and then bring logic into the conversation.
