  1. Just on the page before this, is where the official thread is located for the bypass. Here it is... http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/38589-official-avic-nex-bypass-avic-units-only/ KOT
  2. I hope you didn't pay for that "bypass module". As you can do the bypass very easily from the screen. I personally installed this unit as well as my previous Pioneer D-3. Both times I used the speed sense wire. I travel in areas where the GPS signal doesn't reach, like a mile inside the tunnel. Either through a mountain or through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. KOT
  3. Oh wow it's back? I totally forgot about this feature. I had it on an old single din Pioneer unit from over 10 years ago. Then I bought the Pioneer D-3 but that didn't have it. I've had the avid-7000 for a couple of months and didn't know about it. On the old single din Pioneer it made a difference. But it took a few seconds to recognize that there was a "noise" change. When I opened the window, it would take 20 to 30 seconds to adjust. But closing the window it would take 50 to 10 seconds. KOT
  4. Here's a question for those who say the hardware isn't there. I remember when Apple TV 2 came out. It was torn apart and each chip was labeled and what not. About a year or more later, after going through a few small updates and a major update. Like from iOS 7.0.1 to 7.0.2 for the small but then to iOS 8 for major. That when there was s small update, iOS 8.1, all of sudden the Apple TV can support Blue Tooth, why you ask? So a blue tooth keyboard can be used on it. So why over a year and half, no one knew there was a BT chip inside the second gen ATV? KOT
  5. Ok folks, when I had iOS 8.3 beta on my 6plus. Wireless Car Play was an option under Settings---> General---> CarPlay. Now that I have the final release, the same that you all have. That option is now gone. So I guess wireless CarPlay isn't here yet. KOT

  7. I was on the public beta test of iOS 8.3 and wireless CarPlay did not work. Though I did not try it on the second or latest beta release, just on the first release. I do like the fact that I can just plug my iPhone in and CarPlay comes up, no more unlocking my phone just for that. KOT
  8. They actually went back to having non-factly amps? Thats interesting. Question though, what is the screenshot? KOT
  9. I assume you have the proper wire, not going to look it up at the moment. But in order from best to worst. 1) open up the car wire by slicing off about an inch of insulation. Then evenly spread the copper wire apart, basically make a hole. Then insert the VSS wire after you cut to length, if you wish. Then twist the VSS wire around the car's wire. Closing up the whole as you twist it around it. Then solder it. 2) everything above is the same, except to leave the soldering part out. (This is what I did.) 3) Cut the car's wire. Then twist all three together, the two from the c
  10. Are you guys talking about the "OK" button for the warning page for the Maps? If so, that most likely required by law to have that. It was on my Pioneer D-3 from way back in the day. The only difference between my old D-3 and new AVIC-7000 is the fact that the D-3 would not show it again if it was on a route. For example I would pull over for some gas and/or food, turn off the car for a few minutes. Return and started it up, the D-3 would continue the route with out that warning screen. But the 7000 will show that warning screen every time, routing or not. KOT
  11. And the ability to give permission for the iPhone to "unlock" itself when connected to your Pioneer HU. It would seem it specifies by some encoding. But I don't have another Pioneer unit to test it on. When I upgraded to iOS 8.3 beta test and plugged it in to my Pioneer. A screen came up on my 6+ asking if I want "Allow CarPlay with 'Car Navigation' while phone is locked?" You can later remove it from the list in Settings--> CarPlay--> *Car Navigation*--> Forget this Car or disable Allow CarPlay while locked. KOT
  12. That was turned off on mine as soon as I figured it how to turn it off. lol KOT
  13. Have you tried to reset the iPhone by pressing and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time? Holding them until the Apple logo shows up, about 30 to 45 seconds. What kind of tests has the installer tried? Have they tried a new mic in the same location with out running the wire, just for testing? KOT
  14. I'm guessing second owners, such as me, are out of this deal? On another note, I am shocked to see the maps being more up to date than my Pioneer D-3 according to the About area. But according to the actual maps, are a couple years behind. Two areas have been taken back in time for me. One are is where two roads were a little off set, back in 2008ish the town had lined them up. Another area two roads were a four way, now they are a round a bout. Both were fixed in my D-3 2012 update. KOT
  15. You don't have the dimmer wire hooked up to the headlight/parking lights? Honestly, I didn't know that it automatically dimmed as I have my dimmer wire hooked up. I have noticed that the screen would dim down when my headlights turn on, automatic for my car, but the maps are still on daytime. But after several minutes it will switch to nighttime maps. My old Pioneer D-3 would switch the maps with the dimmer wire. KOT
  16. Actually, a day or two later mine exhibit the same as yours. So I have no answer as to why. I wonder if I started the the trip while stopped one day and the other I started the trip while in mention? I honestly don't remember. But it was the exact same trip, to work. I do know this. If I start the trip from my house. It sends me one route. But if I start the trip a mile down the road, it's s different route. If I were to wait another mile, it's back to the trip from the house. Despite all of the different areas, it's the same route that I take daily. I only make the route to kee
  17. I just tested my 7000 this morning to work. When I had a maneuver in 5 miles or so. The display stayed off until 1/2 mile to the turn. The voice actually spoke and finished the sentence before the display came back on. This was done when I turned off the display in maps. For the next test I changed it to the siruisxm screen. Shut off the display and the next turn was in 15 miles. Again, the display didn't come back on until the voice completed the sentence at the 1/2 mile mark. Perhaps you have an older firmware? Mine is up to date. KOT
  18. Are you on a navi trip? If so, it'll show up coming route maneuvers, such as a turn or what not. If not, do you have the beeps enabled? Does it "beep" when the screen comes back on, as if you touched it? Try to clean the screen with a damp cloth and see what happens. KOT
  19. Glad that the 7000 fits better, or at least hides the gap under the buttons. Personally I am numb to the noise. Mostly because I came from the Pioneer D-3, which was DVD based navi. So that would read the DVD every time anyways. I honestly don't know if my 7000 makes the noise or not. But here's a question for you, have you inserted a dvd/cd and see (hear) what happens? Does the sound change and what not? What happens when you remove it and upon next start up? KOT
  20. Have either one of you connected an actual dvd or blue ray player to the avic? KOT
  21. At least they make one that is actually reasonable. I have a 2006 Cadillac CTS and they only have two options for color. Since my center stack has the fake wood, it would look awful with either choice. This is actually mine with my Pioneer D-3. I had to cut a whole out of the factory radio. Many of us have done this and I am not finish with it. I want to clean it up so that there won't be so many unused buttons/knobs. But at least it still has the wood trim and the factory display for the outside temp and such. KOT
  22. After looking at your pictures and the American Internation dash kit. http://www.amazon.com/The-Wholesale-House-Installation-Kit/dp/B00DYBLZ92/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426555120&sr=8-1&keywords=American+International+CDK652+2011-2012+Dodge+Durango+and+Jeep+Grand+Cherokee+Installation+Kit You are going to find the same issue with the gaps at the bottom. As for upgrading to the AVIC-7000, well there will still be a gap. However, with the protruding buttons you may not see the gap. Every single or double din radio shall have the same "face" dimensions, as they conform to the
  23. Can you post a picture of what is happening? KOT
  24. ^Yeah^. When it happens again, go into your settings and see what the Illumination wire says. Does it say ON, when in fact the lights are off or what? Do you have automatic lights in your car, are they turning on and off as you travel? I know some, if not most, import cars are very sensitive with that. I live in a wooded area and whenever an import is behind me, I see that their lights turn on/off very often as the sun is being shaded by the trees. Of course there are areas where the sun can get through for a few seconds. So the headlights will be constantly turning on and off throug
  25. It does stop on its own. You just have to shut down your car too. KOT
