  1. You drive an A6, have a $500 cell phone and bought HD radio. You can't afford 10 bucks for an SD card and a reader?
  2. That's been discussed in some other threads, do a search...as far5 boot up time, it doesn't bother me because I have a XM Xpress RC connected to the AV1 output, and it plays immediately on startup. It also gives me volume right away so I have what I need if I'm listening to XM.
  3. Here's my findings after update (f700): 1) Bluetooth voice quality is much better but not perfect. There is still a lot of background hiss during calls. Useable at least now 2) Samantha's voice inflection sounds weirder but there's no more bad static on any nav voices. She is not good at pronouncing a lot of words haha. 3) Voice recognition on dialing contacts works perfectly now 4) Button responsiveness seems a bit better AFTER its been booted up for awhile So overall I'm happy but they still need to turn off those STUPID WORTHLESS blank boxes and make the 2d nav compass changeable
  4. I still haven't found a free converter which makes the video full size to the screen and not choppy as all hell. Has anyone?
  5. Can you explain why this would be?
  6. BB8830 does not recognize contact names, just numbers.
  7. My work 8830 will try to connect and say failed, then keep trying repeatedly. Usually it will connect eventually but I still don't get why. I can always get it to connect if I turn off the bt on the avic, then turn back on and search with my 8830. FIX NEEDED!
  8. Mine does that too, erractically. After a while it will usually connect but gives the "connection to pioneer navi failed" a few times first.
  9. Hmm. I'd be afraid to screw mine up...just two wires to solder? How much for the part to the general public?
  10. Stupid? Yes Funny? Yes Sad? Yes
  11. Thanks for the vid, I've never seen the iPod startup yet.
  12. Yep, major annoyance. That and it doesn't save your zoom level in either mode.
  13. Have you been reading man? Right now there is no definitive way to improve BT quality, here's a few things to try: Update phone Pair phone with volume down Turn off echo cancel Throw unit out the window of moving car
  14. It will be worth waiting for IF its not a half-ass update. The major things in my mind are: Responsiveness Bootup time BT quality and ability to pull up keypad during call Save zoom level of nav after shut off 2D nav mode changed so north isn't always up Get rid of empty boxes and "cockpit" arrival time box if no dest plotted Get rid of "comma" and decrease static when voices talking Easier way to suspend/delete route PLEASE let this magical update fix half of those things and I'll be happy.
  15. Can't you search by nearest to your GPS location?
  16. Many navigation units allow you to touch the compass on screen to change the orientation ... touch once and it's oriented in the direction of the car ... touch again and it's pointing north with the arrow for the car pointing wherever. The Lexus RX units do this and it's handy. Typically, however, I just set it to point north as it's distracting to see the whole screen moving out of the corner of my eye while I'm driving. Exactly the point! Why would their previous model allow it and not this one? The worst part is it doesn't even save your zoom levels when you turn off the car. Unac
  17. This is an annoying issue to me as well. Those empty boxes eat up a lot of screen real estate, and look pretty stupid when not navigating. Another thing that can also go away is the "Multi-info Window" at the lower left (distance to go, arrival time, etc.). When not navigating, these all show zeros, so they're just taking up space. I realize it can be turned off by turning "Full Screen Cockpit" on, but then it's ALWAYS off... -Eric Agree 100%. I HATE that. It has to be so easy to write code to tweak something like that. "If destination plotted, turn boxes on". "If destination plotted
  18. Maybe make into 20 minute chunks instead of 1 minute, might be listenable that way. Also, Howard>O&A.
  19. Fotostars PLEASE don't be messing with us...that sounds like exactly what I wanted to hear!!
  20. F-series model:700bt Phone make/model: BB 8830 Ease of connection: Good, but had one instance where it kept saying "connection failed" and would keep trying over and over Phone book transfer: Perfect Sound quality: Horrid so far, but have only done 2 calls. Calling my VM sounds fine though (listening to other party) Comments: The BT connection worked great in my old car with built-in BT, this one hopefully gets better as the person on other end cannot understand me
  21. Another confirmation, thanks...
  22. Tell you what...fix the BT, make the 2d nav map so the compass isn't always north, speed the bootup and the screen to screen changes, and get rid of the dark boxes when you don't have a destination plotted, and this will be a good unit.
  23. My BlackBerry 8830 worked flawlessly in my stock IS250 w/BT. Now I have an Xterra and a 700bt, and seen 2 calls so far. They were both horrid and the person on the other end couldn't understand me. We need to diagnose the problem first and then maybe come up with a temp solution until a firmware update. I keep hearing differing stories...
  24. I'm curious to see if any other wired mic would change anything or even be compatible...
