  1. Nah, I didn't miss it. Just pointing out how you could figure out that it wasn't recalled without "confirmation" from Pioneer.
  2. I ran a backup camera and a dvd signal to a single video monitor using a togle switch. I just cut up a couple of rca cables, connected all the shieldings and switched the center wires. There wasn't very much signal loss either. That might work for you.
  3. What doesn't make sense is why Pioneer would say that an update disk will be available which will turn a Z1, essentially, into a Z2, and then turn around and recall the Z1. However, if they want to take my Z1 and send me a Z2 instead, I won't say no (I might wait until there is a bypass leaked/found, tho' ).
  4. The fix, likely won't work with a Z2 since it has an operating system version that is higher then the bluetooth fix (or newer Z1s for that matter). I've heard that a combination of mic placement and volume levels can help (I haven't gotten my BT adapter yet).
  5. Has it been snowing lately? It snowed here recently and I noticed that the sat radio didn't turn on until I cleared the antenna. If you're in FLA, so somewheres south, then please disregard this post.
  6. Another thing to consider is that a composite output will never equal the quality of the direct signal to the Avic's screen.
  7. Maybe we should just all chip in and have someone try it. Ok, everybody pony up .05! On a side note: 5 people have already bought it, maybe we could contact one of them. Another note, this guy also sells Z1 bypasses ($1.99). Sounds like it's just the "Flash your headlights" method: "It did work but has to be done every time u start the vehicle" (feedback)
  8. Yeah, that'd be like getting a "free" 30 gig automotive hard drive.
  9. Try driving into a long tunnel during rush hour traffic. I was driving through the Holland tunnel, using a tom tom, and got slowed down/stopped inside the tunnel. The Tom Tom didn't know I had stopped and thought I was stll doing 40 or so. So the indicator made it into Manhattan way before I did (I think I was still on the Jersey side). I would assume that the AVIC would have still known exactly where I was).
  10. It sounds like all the bypasses are software based (i.e. the last one was activated with the bluetooth update). Since Pioneer claims that the upgrade will make the Z1 exactly like the Z2, it stands to reason that the upgrade will nullify the current bypass (since the bypass does not work on the Z2).
  11. Plus, have you changed radios since you've had it? The lifetime subscription only allows you to change your receiver 3 times (at $74 a pop).

    Or sensible.

    Phone Dump

Megatron posted this method using a mac: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5622 I don't have bluetooth (or a mac) so I don't know if it actually works, but maybe you could adapt his method to your phone.
  14. Just wait until we start swapping Z1/Z2 hard drive images!
  15. You have the ring, and I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.
  16. That's where mine used to be, but I moved it under the dash. Slightly less accurate reception (but no ugly antenna on my dash )
  17. Just my .02 but: a) shouldn't you be burning to a CD and not a DVD? I know it works on a CD, but I'm not sure if it works on a DVD. Of course, I have a Z1 so maybe that's the part I'm missing. zride: You must be pretty computer savvy and able to figure this out as your sig looks suspiciously like SQL script.
  18. Any camera that reverses the image and has a composite video output can be used with the z1. mp3playerstore.com or ebay are two that I can think of from the top of my head, but there are tons of others.
  19. If you really want the nav traffic, you could just sign up for xm nav-traffic only.
  20. Futureshop, huh? I'll have to check it out. So far I've been using the sunglasses cloth (bag).
  21. Maybe that's what he meant. Could be that he's real excited.
  22. I just did one yesterday. I was making a slide show DVD and wanted to see what it looked like on the TV so, not having any blank DVDs on hand, I burned it onto a CD, popped it into a player (not the AVIC) and it worked. But you are right, perhaps it just burned it as a VCD, I didnt think of that.
  23. Yeah you pretty much do. I'm guessing that the "logic" behind this is that although you've accepted the agreement, the next person driving your car might not have.
  24. Yeah, I've tried both with and without the metal plate and it was definitely better with.
