  1. Seriously??? What are they using as a "timer"? So I decide to drive to Edmonton, Alberta in July and my unit goes to night use at 9:00 p.m. when the sun is still up? Something doesn't sound right here.
  2. Please don't give up on this. Your addition is appreciated by many. Don't let a couple of smart ass comments by someone discourage you. There seems to be a lot of that on this site.
  3. can you tell us what the dangers are of bypassing the fuse like that? I believe that's what you did isn't it?
  4. I sure don't understand the importance of the status screen (speed pulse, etc). I have it on my Z series units and have accessed it maybe twice in the entire time I've owned them.
  5. Word on the street is Sirius has more band width. Be interesting to see how the merger affects this. I would try Sirius now that they have merged, but I'm not about to give up my NavTraffic.

    XM Tuner

The Xm tuner you need is available as an add on. I would go to the Pioneer site, go to the 900 series and look at the accessories tab. That will give you the XM unit you need. There are several places you can buy it...probably locally. Then it's just a matter of installing it, the Buss cable, power, ground, and antenna.
  7. That is some great work. It's all too "busy" for my tastes, but if it's what you like, then that's great!
  8. First thing to do is find out what voltage your amp uses to enable it. This will NOT be the amp power supply. Only the signal wire. Ford uses 5V and must be reduced. If yours is the same (find out for sure...don't guess), then I would recommend you contact DucatiBoy in the Z forum and get one of his regulators. That is a lot better set up than a resistor.
  9. The serial number is scratched out??? I would send that back in a heartbeat. In fact, I would call my credit card company and get my money back and take the stereo straight to the cops with all documentation. There is no legitimate reason in this world to scratch out a serial number.
  10. This is a much better solution: http://www.sminntech.com/ampinterface.html It's from Ducatiboy on the Z series forum.
  11. If not a nav fuse, then a vehicle fuse from the system you are taking power from. If this was installed without any fuse protection, somebody should have their ass kicked
  12. Confucius say: It better to beg forgiveness than ask permission...
  13. It was less than 1%...and I have that direct from the horse's mouth. So you are about dead on with your estimate. That is prior to them returning to VZW
  14. Oh for God's sake. You actually believe that dribble??? If VZW lost half it's customers, it would have been bankrupt. Unbelievable. Whoever told you that crap is an absolute idiot. But, they did lose SOME customers. However, they got most of them back when they were screwed over so bad over the price of the phone and how it turned out to be so lacking from what was advertised.
  15. Very nice. Now, for the big question. Where did you get the face plate? I've installed two Z series in LS's. I had to make the face plates from a factory Nav face plate. NOBODY offered one! Did you find a source?
  16. I guess it doesn't get much easier than that! Thanks to both of you for getting this to us.
  17. Do you have any concrete information on this? Or do you have a place we can complain so they know we want it "fixed"?
  18. Yes they did kerosene...they fixed it and made it right with him. I think what they did was appropriate. Everyone makes mistakes...they made it right. Glad it's taken care of. That was handled correctly. You wouldn't want to have to pay a bunch of money everytime you made an honest error. It was definitely a hack job that should have never been sent out, but they fixed it.
  19. Try the one for the Z series. I have tried it on another Pioneer head unit. I couldn't get the bluetooth to work...but everything else did.
  20. I think you'll agree that's a very loose interpretation... Do as kerosene suggests...take it back and get your money back or a brand new unit in the box. If you paid with a credit card, dispute the charge so you can get your money back if they balk at doing what's right. If these folks are an authorized dealer, send the pics and your story to Pioneer so they have a record of the work they do. Next, please tell all here who the hell hacked up your unit and brand new car...
  21. I have 4 vehicles with back up cameras. Every one has a different camera. One has the Pioneer camera. It was hard to install in such a way that it didn't show much or stuck out like a sore thumb. But it's under the trunk lip on a Lincoln LS and is fairly well hidden there. The reason I mention it is because it is without a doubt, the best camera of the bunch. No doubt. I have a couple of other pretty spendy bullet cams that are IR, color, etc that don't hold a candle to the Pioneer cam. It does a much better all around job in differing conditions. However, I have not tried the Boyo ca
  22. Does it make a difference when you change the volume settings on the phone when pairing? I'm just reaching at straws here... Might try a different microphone. Or...is your microphone flush mounted and covering up the side holes?

    Clock

Except that most clocks from the factory are included in the factory stereo head unit...which you no longer have now.

    Z3 or F90bt

I have three Z2's running around in my family's cars. They are a very nice system, but have their bugs too. Bluetooth is a problem they've been fighting since day 1, but finally seem to be getting their arms around it. But the F series has some things I am very interested in and intend to try. The ability to go in and play around with the software is HUGE in my opinion to personalize the system to your needs. Most of the serious bugs have been addressed, but they need to continue working on a few. Not being able to head up in 2D is a major mistake in my opinion. I would much prefer XM N
