I installed a Z1 in my Navigator this weekend. Thanks to all the members here for their input and a special thanks to ducatiboy. What a world of difference between the Z1 and my original factory stereo. I first thought that gimmicky Navigator door was useless and never closed it. Now with the Z1, I always close it when not in use and it does a great job hiding my new baby :D .

One of the members asked me for a few pics of my install in my 96 Integra, so since you can't attach files to a PM, I'll post them here.

My install is nothing fancy. I used a Scosche install kit with some modifications to make it a lot stronger. I used 1/4" bar steel with nylock nuts tied around one of the dash mounts instead of using the crappy plastic piece that came with the kit. The sub box, sub protector, and Ipod mount are all home made, as you can obviously see from the crappiness of them. LOL

I've got around 1000 watts total RMS running 2 pairs of Kicker 5 1/4 separates in the doors and rear deck, 3 JL Audio 8W subs series-paralleled to run 4 ohms bridged in a sealed box where the spare used to be, HiFonics amps under the seats, Pioneer Avic-Z1 HU, Pioneer GEX-P10XMT Navtraffic tuner, Pioneer CD-IB100II Ipod adapter, and a 4 gig Ipod nano just to play my random MP3s. Everything else is on the Z1 library. When I get done traveling, I'm adding the TV tuner, bluetooth adapter, and much higher end mids and highs. I'm leaning towards Bostons or Infinity.

Finally, for security, I've got a new Crime Guard paging alarm sitting in the box waiting to be installed tomorrow, and I'm planning on making a false panel to cover the Z1 with a cheap radio faceplate glued to it.

Here's my installation in my 2004 Subaru WRX. I'm also using a Pioneer DEQ-P8000 with AXM-P8000 (shown) with Pioneer TS-CX7 center channel, and a Pioneer CD-TS37GP guidance speaker. Front and rear speakers are Infinity Kappas, with a 10 inch Audiobahn subwoofer. Everything is powered by Rockford Fosgate 801x.

iPod docking adapter
Since he's talking about using a CNC machine we can forget about using the exact method he used but we should be able to use some acrylic and glue and replicate his example.

Console Modification
From looking at the pictures I'm guessing he just cut a hole in his existing console and then used body filler, or something that works well with polymers, and just sanded it down and painted it.
