Jhorrocks
So that did fix it. So both wires do need to be grounded prior to pressing the reset button.

Omie
just one more thing before i do this, does the wire that needs to be bypassed on the rca harnesses on the input (near the fm antenna) or the output harness (near the power harness) and if the update iso software doesn't load, will my z2 be useless
Omie
never mind i did just the 2 wire bypass and it works great, also i did the gracenote update and didn't mess up the bypass
Garso
Hi all, My z2 has an Oct 2007 manufacters date. I was wondering if I needed to do the ISO CD-rom update with my z2. I couldn't understand the original post with the pre/post June cutoff. Thanks in advance.
garrettoomey
You should not need the cd upgrade, but the easiest way to tell is to do the 2 wire bypass correctly. If the Z2 is not bypassed, then use the update disc. Â The other option is to upgrade your hdd to Z3 software and maps, then you KNOW you will not need the update cd. Just the 2 wire bypass. utbackpacker
I had my installer do the two wire ground and reset and I have the current updates from the cd. I was on my way home and everything was working fine and all of a sudden the improper connection of the parking brake came up again. I turned around and went back and he checked the parking brake ground and it was fine. He reset the unit and again everything was working until I got about halfway home and it did the exact same thing. I want to through my Z2 through the window and go back to my kenwood! I have a trailblazer and its a pain in the ass to get to the unit. Any thoughts? Â Lance
garrettoomey
Be sure the mute (or other wire) has been moved to the correct location in connector 2, and be sure that it it seated properly in the connetor. It will also need a good ground source.

BLACKHD
hey guys after succesfully installing z2 bypass i noticed I was no longer able to use the av input from the menu screen. That is what I use when I view movies from my ipod. Any suggestion?
garrettoomey
Most likely you did a reset, and that changed a setting. Go into your settings and set Aux input to "A/V" and you will be good to go.
