dtomcat
well there is always the option of shipping your drive. After all as long as you already have the two wire bypass completed, there is no need for the unit itself.
whtcrxghst
So nothing ever happened with figuring out how to generate the code? I am totally useless at that or I would offer to help
Josiah
When I do this to my drive I'd be willing to upgrade everyone's Z1 harddrive to a Z2 no problem. I don't have a lot of time but I'd be willing to do it for much less than the 200-250 upgrade is. I need to find out how fast I can accomplish one upgrade. Let me know if you're interested, I'd only accept paypal. Also, can someone elaborate on the changes with this update? There is only a brief, vague description in the first post of this thread. garrettoomey
i have a pre june 06 z1, and have ducati boy's circuit. will that still work after this update? No. You will need to use the 2 wire method (which is quite simple)
AFMagnum
Also, can someone elaborate on the changes with this update? There is only a brief, vague description in the first post of this thread. In one of the threads, someone posted a link to the Z2 update manual on Pioneer's website. It listed exactly what was updated with the Z1-Z2 conversion. I did a search but couldn't find it again. Maybe someone here can help find it and post the link.
grahamtwatson
Would this be the right time to just install a larger disk, rather than going through all the hassle (and risk) of updating the OEM disk?
AFMagnum
Would this be the right time to just install a larger disk, rather than going through all the hassle (and risk) of updating the OEM disk? This would be the PERFECT time to install a larger disk if you want to go that route. There is a thread discussing this here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9453
dtomcat
but be warned... 99% of people who are upgrading the HDD are expierencing a REBOOTING issue. so look into that before making a decision!!
grahamtwatson
Just bought myself a 40GB disk for $50 which people seem to have had some success with. For $50, what the heck. http://computers.pricegrabber.com/hard-drives/m/14244541/ if you want to see...

murzik
I can recommend do net restore whole z2 image, but first two partitions into your old z1 drive. This will allow you to keep all your music and user settings.

This will allow you to keep all your music and user settings. Is this possible? I am thinking that the Z2 image contains special attributes in these 2 partitions that are different from the Z1. Can anyone confirm this?

There is only a brief, vague description in the first post of this thread. I edited the original post to include a link to Pioneer's CNDV-700HD Upgrade Manual that has complete details as to what changed between the Z1 and Z2: http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/pees ... 0HD-EN.pdf
