  1. #2 picture is the cables needed for the Z150BH along with the AppleĀ® MD826ZM/A Lightning digital A/V adapter.
  2. Does this update include the AppRadio mode for the Z120BT, like the Pioneer website claims https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Map-Upgrades/NAVTEQ+2013+Map+Upgrade+for+AVIC-Z120BT,+AVIC-Z110BT+and+AVIC-X920BT Just trying to help a friend out who's not very tech savy. He would rather use navigation with the AppRadio from his i-phone. Update: I figured out what may be the issue. https://pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadioMode
  3. If you have no sound... Try reseting the unit first by pushing in the little black button on the face plate. But If that still doesn't work then you need to check all the wiring and connecters, If the communications wiring to the brain unit is even a little loose, it will cause all kinds of erratic problems. This is the Voice Command it works for the N1, N2 and N3's http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... C1.Support
  4. There really is no need for a switch to toggle the bypass on or off, that just complicates the install and adds another possible point failure. If the bypass is done right, the brake wire can stay permanetlly grounded and will not cause any issue with any functions of the unit. This sounds like they hooked up the parking brake wire to a switch that is grounded, However they did not do the bypass to the head unit. But this is only my best guess given the error message and I had seen this before when the bypass was not soildered correctlly. I would take it back to the sho
  5. How did you get the screen to look anywhere near halfway descent using the RCA input. I've tried this with several of my laptops and the image on my AVIC screen looks just so crappy, that you can't read a damm thing even after you enlarge the desktop icons and fonts.
  6. I think you might be getting confused between just making simple backgrounds and then those instructions on changing the boot image. Yes, background images are as simple as Pioneer says they are... However when you get into changing the startup boot images ect... that's where it gets a lot more complicated where you would need a DVD burner that can burn dual layer DVD's and also some additional software.
  7. whtcrxghst, what do you mean? Oh nevermind I see what you mean now...
  8. Hello, Did you get your navigation update disks from Pioneer or did you get a copied or burnt disk second hand? If it is a second hand disk... Then yours, like many other units on here is suffering from the effects from having got a poor disk copy. If it was a copy you made yourself from a bit torrent... verify that you have all the same files from the image on the disk you created.
  9. Yeah for bootleg upgrade disk! (in all sarcasim) It was nice the e-bay bootleggers went through all the trouble to actually make the disk look like the originals... It's just too bad they didn't burn them correctly or bother to really test them to make sure they work with all the units. I think this site averages atleast four post a week from problems with these bootleg copies...
  10. If only we could figure out how to hook up a stun gun up to our unit now! but I guess it would prolly suck to find a dead guy in your car one morning...
  11. As a kid I always thought the Knight Rider was neato, but now I look at what was KITT the 82 Trans AM and can't help thinking how in the hell did I ever think this car was cool. And well since the new Knight Rider is comming out in a few days I remembered what was so cool about that 82 KITT Trans AM and that was that glowing red voice comming from the dash when KITT spoke. So please could someone come up with a cool moden day voice for KITT as background image or even the one in the new Night Rider GT500KR? It may help a few of us kids dreams come closer to becoming real...
  12. Yep, and they might wind up just giving you back a refurbished N3 head unit for the repair.
  13. If you have alt or fuel pump noise you may want to install an RF choke to illiminate this noise. Ford vehicles where notorious for engine noise and fuel pump noise comming through aftermarket stereo systems. like these. http://www.tessco.com/products/displayP ... groupId=65
  14. This is not a problem with your bypass... The problem is your DVD copy! AVIC N2 and N3's have different part numbers listed for their DVD core units in the service manuals, which may explain why some people don't have the problem with the burnt DVD's and others do. The address search and the POI search database is on the second layer of the navigation DVD's, however many here have run into the same problem you are experiencing and later figured out that when making copies of the upgrade disk they had to burn at slower speeds and they found that only certain brands of DVD DL layer d
  15. Yes, It's highly doubtfull that you will be able to use just a DTV converter box, unless you are sitting still and using some sort of large powerfull bulky antenna... With the current 8-bit VSB broadcast system now in place, it requires that you have a very strong signal and that also the signal be direct. In a weak analog signal situation being mobile you would just experiece weak snowy images and a bit distorted sound, however with trying to recieve OTA digital broadcast while being mobile you will experience image pixelization and loss of sound wich then takes the reciever a bit of
  16. I have the assembly listed as CXC4304 in the service manual. The white connector on the board that attaches the small ribbon cable is CKS3965 The large black connector that makes contact with the detachable faceplate is CKS4658 Bummer... the parts website shows the assembly out of stock, however the connector I think you broke is "in-stock", I hope that you can solder well... Hope this helps... Good Luck!
  17. * You either have a bad ground wire somewhere inline, or the battery constant wire to your head unit has a bad or loose connection. * Also I believe if the voltage on an AVIC falls below a certain level it will power down as well. But that doesn't explain the loss of your presets. * Another thing is that the cable connection from the head unit to the brian may be loose, but then if that's was the case you would have to reset the unit everytime it died from lost connection . Is the whole unit going dead, or is it just the screen or just the audio??? I would defin
  18. You need to go into you Navi Menu, Settings, Defined Locations, Map in Memory and then save to memory the area you generaly drive in. Once you navigate outside the saved area, then you will have to reload your disk. Hope this helps! You can also download the user manual for your unit from the Pioneer Electronis website for more information. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... C-N2?tab=D
  19. Oh Well... I thought he meant HD radio since he didn't say H/DTV, but then again I missed the "over-the-air" (OTA) and the end of his post. I haven't heard rummors or seen anything yet from Pioneer as far as a digital tuner unit for the AVIC's go, but it would be cool if they could make it as a built in feature in the future, being that alot of laptops are already coming out with HDTV tuners built in.
  20. You will need an HD Radio Tuner module, however I believe the Pioneer unit has limmited display funtions if your using this with a N3. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... /GEX-P10HD
  21. I think it's a glitch in both the map and POI database. I had the right zone selected, when I did the address searches. I think that the phone # lookup database must be separate from the maps and POI database, because when the unit does finds the place by phone number only then will it recognize the address and allow you to select it as a destination and navigate you there. I've had this problem happen alot in Central Florida.
  22. That happened to me all the time with the 50 series NAV disk. Damm wanking thing wouldn't find anything I would enter in. However if entered in the the phone number it would find it instantly, which then would be the same freaking bloody exact address I just done the address search for.
  23. If for any reason your N2 brain was disconnected from the head unit with the power still applied, then make sure you push in and hold down the small reset button on the face until it reboots or you will have near the same symptom as a bad flex cable. Also make sure the cable that attaches the head unit to the brain and head unit are completly seated. The difference is the unit will still power up and be illumminated, but none of the unit's functions will work and you will NOT be able to hear any audio comming from any source if this is the case. As for a bad flex cable, all the u
  24. I've wasted several DVD's trying to make a disk from this torrent and this is what I had to do to finally get the seach and POI's working. 1. Save the torrent file in a folder only one level from your root drive (C:\) ie - C:\Software\PIONEER_CNDV_70MTP_WEST 2. Extract file in the same folder using WinRaR only 3. Burn your Dual Layer DVD using the latest update of Alcohol 120% at the slowest speed possible. Also the Verbatim DVD+R DL seems to be the only disk I can get the burn to work correctly on as well. I have no idea why, but I am thinking for some reason it's the only b
