  1. I'll post some actual settings - lol I have 2 10"s in the trunk so i set both my HPF and LPF to 125 htz then i put the staging on "music studio" or whatever then i can't remember what i put the eq on - but it's not the standard one I have my sub on +1 gain Then I bumped my Sirius, XM, CD player to +4 gain (TRYING to overcome the shitty pre-out voltage) i also turned my bluetooth volume all the way up and muted the nav lady. I also use the 3D/twin maps with my 3D view set so the direction i'm traveling is always up and the 2d part so that north is up (so i can stil
  2. 1) how about a Sirius or XM screen worth a sh*t? you can't even display the artist and song name at the same time.. WTF My old Sirius (S50) had a 2.5 inch screen or something and worked a billion times better than the Z2 - you'd think with a 7 inch screen they could put stuff you wanted to see on it instead of using half the thing for banners and the other half for useless buttons. 2)And make it so you can save songs from the sirius or XM The S50 - stiletto 10 or 100 let you do it. why not the z2? 3)and don't forget about the Sirius traffic Having to buy the Xm receiver
  3. you probably didn't do the 2 wire bypass right.. i would make sure you grounded the right wires.. and that your grounds are good.
  4. Is there any parts of it that talk about the software? or how to access the firmware? that would probably be the biggest help.. how much did you pay for it BTW?
  5. I saw somebody doing standup tell this joke - I don't remember who it was and i'm telling it from memory... *After leaving bar from night of drinking* *ding* "Hello onstar?" "yeah i need directions home" "can you route me home using JUST backroads" "oh and if you see any police cars on your satellites, can you route me around them?"
  6. you mean like on Need For Speed? hellz yeah that would be cool! but i bet if we can't even figure out how to make the warning message go away, this is a long way off yet.
  7. have you tried to reset it? using the small reset button next to the eject? that might get it out of the loop - if that doesn't work, there are several "levels" of resets you can try.. do a search to find them..
  8. i don't think your doing it write - you want to use your CD burning program to burn a "data disk" then you want to unzip the file you downloaded and open it - then open the folder called "Z2 firmware update" then inside that you want to drag and drop the folder called "AVICZ1_HD1" and the file "basefile.DAT" onto your disk and hit burn - so when it's done if you look at the contents of the disk all you will see is a file called "AVICZ1_HD1" and "Basefile.dat" that is it. put that disk in your Z2 and it should be all good
  9. last time i had trouble with a guy on ebay - i tried to leave negative feedback and ebay gave me the option of getting his info and settling it civil. ebay sent me an email with his adress and phone number.. i called the guy, and talked to his dad (because the guy was 15) and his dad took care of it for me..
  10. yeah there is an option to tell it that the unit is sideways - i don't know how to get to it off the top of my head, but i definitely know it's there.. you just need to look in the manual or play around long enough in the settings to find it
  11. well you have what is called a "ground loop" - there are a couple of general fixes for it, but every case is different first - make sure everything is grounded at the same place, like your amps and sometimes even your HU should be grounded to the same bolt then make sure you use solder connections when ever you are "tapping" anything - and not crimp connectors and definatly not t-splice connectors then make sure your amps aren't turned up too high - if you need to, turn up the volume on your HU and turn down you amps and the last resort is getting some "ground loop isolators" f
  12. Soon - I'm moving from Nashville, TN - to the southern LA area. I don't know exactly where yet.. I'm flying in this week to try to find me an apartment. have any suggestions?
  13. YOU can... it's really not that hard.. just read the sticky.
  14. no ducatiboy isn't just ANY ol' shit you can find laying around... he's THE shit. the kinda stuff you have to call your friend to get imported from amsterdam.. the kinda shit that smells so good, you have to ask your friends to smell it just to make sure your not dreaming...
  15. I've searched around and haven't really found anything that helpful. I have a bunch of music videos that i would like to put onto one DVD that i can watch on my Z2 (bypassed). the files are mostly mpeg but there are some avi. i would like to be able to watch them and also be able to pick from a list because its a long list. i use nero as my DVD and cd burning software, but i can't figure out a way to make a DVD from mpeg files. any help is appreciated.
  16. Wow - got kinda a nooooob overload on page 12 -- guys - make sure you have grounded pin #2 correctly (along with the parking brake) if it is loose or not perfect it will randomly kick the bypass off and make you reset - make sure the wire is in the connector correctly and the connector is in the Z2 all the way (you shouldn't be able to pull it out without pushing the button at the top) and as for the image - make sure you are D/L the iso and not just the files - if you are downloading a rar, thats the wrong file.. read the post again. after you click the link you have to type in t
  17. check your #2 wire. it's probably a loose connector inside the plug that goes into the z2 - either it's not plugged in all the way to bent or something, also the plug itself may not be seated all the way into the z2, i had the same problem.
  18. probably, but that disk number will only work once. after that it won't generate any more numbers unless you have a new disk number. but i bet the disk could still be used for the bypass..... hhmmm
  19. you probably just have a dead bettery, mine also came with a small piece of plastic between the battery and the connector so that battery wouldn't go dead in the box.. maybe that is still there or it came out, letting you battery go dead.
  20. I just called and they want $250 to buy the CD - I don't know if it's licensed or anything, lets hope we can get an image floating around cuz that is alot of money
  21. Yeah that would be pretty cool, but I know that WM5 sucks! at least on anything i've ever seen it on.. my friend has a WM5 phone that he has to pull the battery on daily because it locks up on him.. I would think that if it's windows auto, which is basically windows ce - it wouldn't be that hard to get windows media player to work.. and then maybe that would work without a bypass.. I wish i knew more about how that stuff actually works.
  22. Thats a very good point, how many people have the z2 image? and is there anyone out that that is familiar with Windows CE filesystem?
  23. --This thread is basically me just thinking with my keyboard-- I haven't owned my Z2 for long, and I am no computer superstar by any stretch of the imagination. But it is obvious to me that probably the ONLY way we are going to be able to bypass the Z2 will be by tricking the operating system into allowing it. Let's start from the beginning, we know that the Z2 runs off of "windows automotive" OS - which is basically just built from Windows CE. I know there are tons of developers out there that work with .Net and Windows CE.. I think that if we could find a way to get to the operating
