HiFiSi
Yeah... I don't see any way of bypassing it like with the 700, 900, and 90 radios, because the wires are in a fixed position on the harness. There might possibly be some kind of hardware bypass somewhere on (or in) the unit, I don't know.

For now, I am going to locate the parking brake wire and deal with it. I'll just be researching and asking for a bypass. Thanks HiFiSi.
ktalle
ok so i performed this mod and it hasn't worked. . . . could it be that i don't have the VSS connected? ? ? ? ? or am i doin somethin wrong? ? ?
CatchMeIfYouCan631
VSS wire plays no part in the bypass. Either you put the wire in the wrong pin, it's not secured in, or one of them is not grounded.
ktalle
thanx I'll try again later w/a needle
jdmchris
the white connector, is that the one that comes with the headunit? OEM harness? Or stereo kit harness? I have a black harness that came with the headunit, and the black harness that came with the dash kit. Im installing this weekend and need to see if my unit is missing a harness. *EDIT* Nevermind... The harness was hiding. I swapped the wire and cant wait to install it this weekend!
cali007
I followed the directions exactly and used the same clips from the pics on page 9 of this thread and it looks just like those pics but...The nav and system settingare greyed out even when i come to a complete stopand put the e-brake on! Also I no longer get the system detected improper grounding msg. I'm frustrated. Any help?

That may be why it isnt working. Make sure all connections are connected properly.
cali007
Can I just loosen one of the screws on the back of the unit and use that for a ground?
HiFiSi
No. Either attach them to a ground wire or to a screw/bolt going into a metal part of the car's body.
jdmchris
got it put in. Bypass wasnt working so I have to go back and make sure everything is right. Does it matter if I ground the wires to the chassis or to the harness wire? I have the ground, Parking brake and mute wire all grounded to the chasis.
HiFiSi
No, it doesn't matter. A ground is a ground.
bbotzong
I believe I read in the HACK threads that there is now a software fix where you change the speed setting from 16 to 128 and you no longer need the hardwire workaround. Search for 16 to find out how. It will save you some obvious pain
nvrmore100
Just installed my F90BT last weekend, and bypass worked great! Only question though, as I didn't think it would do this. My unit still gives me the "Warning, don't drive...." that I have to press "OK" to. Once that is done, it never complains about moving/nav/movies and hasn't stopped working, even at high speeds or long trips. Should it give me the Press OK page? HiFiSi
Yes, there is nothing you can do (or should I say nothing anyone has discovered yet) that can get rid of that message.
