F900BT reboots over and over - Very weird - HELP!!

Recommended Posts

I've now confirmed all my wiring is good, and the issue occurs when the unit starts tracking GPS movement for some reason. I've disconnected my GPS antenna for now and the rebooting has stopped. I really want to find out what is causing this though. It just started suddenly and I can't make sense of it.

weaponofchoice,

Have your issue been resolved after resetting to manufacturer's settings? Seems like there are quite a bit of other factors that may cause the system to crash (software). If resetting does it, I can also provide a mirror site and include my own F90BT complete image.

I seem to have fixed my reboot issue by using this method. I went for a quick 10min test drive and used the nav function (including setting a route) and all seems to be working normal.

I started in Testmode and deleted these files: gpspara3.bin, gpspara2.bin, gpspara1.bin, and gpspara0.bin

(in that order)

Hopefully this will solve others problems. If mine crashes/reboots again I'll let everyone know...

Why don't you start by just loading one of my all-in-one mods or my ResetToOEM file.

ftp://avic:avic-411@buckeyecollision.us/cmh928 read the !readme! and look at the screenshots in the Pix folder. Whole thread devoted to it in the hacks section.

Has a reboot issue ever been solved by applying a hack? It would be nice if that is the case--I'd apply your hack in a heartbeat.

if the hack replaces the tire flash drive on the unit and therefore replaces the corrupt files then it should solve the problem. the issue is their is no "cause" for the problem that has been identified so there is a possibility you will need to go back in and remove those .bin files again in the future...

My all-in-one file and the ResetToOEM file are far more than a simple hack. They both have ezrider.exe/license, sys.txt, image.res, voices, sounds, and data.zip files in modded form or OEM v2.0.

If deleting the gpspara files and the userdata folder don't fix your problem, then these are the next logical step. Besides that, they self-install and are thus much more idiot-proof than mucking about in testmode.

I'm having a similar problem to some people, but it seems different to most! I've upgraded my unit to v2.x and the only mod I've made is to replace !alert5.wav (the barking dog) with a louder version of !alert6.wav. I've also recently updated the speed cam database via a SD card.

In the past, I've been able to boot from a couple of SD cards, one with the Pioneer 2.0 update and one with testmode on. Now I can boot into testmode but when I try and boot up onto an update card it is as though it's not bootable - does the LPUE080 folder have to be the only thing on the card? I tried the following filesystem:

/LPUE080/

/MiTACAP.dis/

/Testmode.dis/

(I didn't want to delete the testmode stuff but assume by renaming them that the unit would ignore them). All that happens is that teh AVIC ignores the lot and boots as normal, showing the main menu with "system startup in progress", which never goes away. I can press "behind" the dialogue. If I press tunes, it shows me the USB stick but when I select that nothing plays - same goes for radio. If I press the map button, it shows the disclaimer but doesn't get any further. After a reasonable length of time, the unit reboots.

I've tried deleting the gpspara files but no luck. I don't know how the handbrake cable is connected but it was installed by a Pioneer specialist.

F700BT (EU version)

1) Past issues (reboots, freezing) - has frozen when playing music and changing sound options; has rebooted occasionally, but never stuck on the startup screen until 3 days ago

2) Have you (or professional) upgraded your Avic to the latest update - I have upgraded to latest version, but can't boot onto the update any more

3) Did the issue start before or after the update, if applicable? - after, but was stable for a while (I updated when I bought the unit)

4) Did the issue start after a hack, a mod or a bypass? - after, but all I've done is replace one wav file with another, and renamed the original to .bak (so I now have !alert5.wav.bak (barking dog) and !alert5.wav (amplified version of !alert6.wav))

5) How long have you had the hacks, mods or bypass? - about 2 weeks

6) How long has the unit worked without a problem? - about 6 weeks

Hope someone can help - I think re-updating to 2.x is the obvious next step.

cmh - thanks for the link I have been away for a while but I'll test this out tonight.

Hopefully this works as it's a huge hassle opening up my dash to reconnect the antenna and test it. :)

ginner - try disconnecting the GPS antenna cable and see if the problem stops. This worked for me but I'm still trying to find a solution so that I can reconnect the cable. I'll reply here once I've found one.

Ok...I thought I had a similar problem, F900BT, Sirius Tuner, Rear Camera, IPOD Interface and Blackberry World Linked via Bluetooth. Problem began a little more than a week ago, random reboots which afterward everything worked as normal. Then came Black Friday....5/29 unit rebooted and then would only allow one single interface function, either a MAP or MENU push or a single touch screen selection then no more interface attempts recognized. The unit continued to work for back-up cam, incoming calls answered at the phone itself, and the map would display and change as I drove. Random reboots continued every 15 minutes or so with the same problem of only a single command recognized then nothing. Tried rebooting with the reset button...no help. Downloaded the OEM 2.0 Reload listed earlier here with the expected process appearing to work but no change to the problem, tried several times with no better result. Thought I would try one of the MODS available here and now I get the "System Starting...Please Wait" for about 10 mins then reboot...same thing over and over. Now the unit won't boot into TESTMODE from the SD card anymore, its like it does not recognize the SD card is even there. Help! Any Ideas or suggestions? :(

for people that have this problem. most of the time it will just be the gps files. make sure when you test it out the car is not moving. i know its common sense but you never know, right. so if deleting the gps files worked for you but the problem came back again after a few days/weeks/months or so. 99.99% sure its because of the same thing. i've already had to do this twice in a span of a month. what i would suggest is buy the cheapest 1gb sd card you can find and load testmode on it. that way anytime this happens, pull over anywhere, run test mode, delete files, and viola its fixed again. that way you dont have to wait to get home to fix the problem.

Adding myself to the list of people who ran into this problem.

I have a thread here: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=24822&start=0

I have tried all options from the easiest to attempting a full re-load of the "original" software. While backing up my current FlashDisk, I realized I would get errors on some files... further found out data files for iGo were missing (map files and POI files). I went to the "View Options" and have the proper options checked.

Having exhuasted my options, and not being able to delete items from MyFlashDisk means, unfortunately, the unit goes back to Pioneer for repair. :(
