  1. It's probably already got the update. Check the version again, it's not the main version # (platform version) but the sub version # (application version) that moves to 3.001. Platform version will remain at 3.000: Step 5 Once the firmware update is completed, please perform the following steps to confirm that the firmware update was successful: • Press the “HOME†key • Select the “Settings†tab • Select “System Settings†• Select “Service Information†• Press & hold left upper corner of the “Service Information†screen for a few seconds • Confirm th
  2. Just buy a drive from garrettoomey. You won't regret it, and won't have to worry about any of this stuff. Plus you can always update the maps later to his drive since it'll be unlocked permanently. I was a satisfied customer, about 3 years back!
  3. I resold mine for about $600 (after ebay/paypal fees). This was a Z1 upgraded to Z3.
  4. Also, what I did to test my bypass connection was measure the resistance from the chassis of the radio (ie: ground) to the PIN inside the plug socket on the radio (the pin that the mute wire would now be connecting to.) If I recall correctly it measured something like 20.9 K Ohms. I then plugged in my "updated" plug, and tested the resistance from the radio chassis to the mute wire that was supposed to connect to that same PIN, and found that the resistance was exactly the same (this told me there was good contact). I wiggled the wire around a bit to simulate what happens when you stuff
  5. 1. Thanks, but being able to delete it should be an option. It's just odd to have some device registered there that says "Sergio's iPhone" when it will never be used. 2. How can you not use the HD? Is there a way to disable it on the Z130BT? 3. I did find this (figured it would be enabled by default, maybe installer changed it). Same as Z1 I used to have. 4. Unfortunate. I liked the split map mode, and what was nice on the Z1 is it was an option so those that wanted it had it. Not sure why they removed it. Technically speaking, is the Z130BT a "lower end" model than the Z1/Z3 serie
  6. Anyone else see this elsewhere? http://www.abt.com/product/58866/Pioneer-AVICZ140BH.html?utm_source=scfroogle&utm_medium=sc&utm_campaign=froogle&gclid=CKD66YiinK4CFckZQgoduA5BIQ PRE-ORDER only of course...
  7. So, I just recently moved from the Z1 (upgraded to Z3) to the Z130BT. Overall, I like the unit a lot, although it does lag a bit when doing POI searches and such which I'm not used to from the Z1. I had some questions and wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything obvious. 1) Bluetooth Pairing - Is there any way to just delete 1 paired device? The installed tested it with his iPhone, and now it likes his phone as a paired device. Only reference in the manual is after 5 devices you have to choose which one to Delete since you can only have 5 total. 2) Tuner - Preset listing doesn
  8. I just had my AVIC Z1.3 upgraded to the AVIC Z130BT, and wanted the bypass installed as well (I had it with the Z1 and could not lose it). I was debating about doing the installation myself (bypass and all), but in the end decided I'm getting too old, and don't have the patience I used to have. That being said, I wired the bypass myself on the harness and just told them to ground the c-mute (which I moved) and p-brake wires and they should be good to go. They said they would do the bypass, but only so the passenger could access the NAV functions while driving. I've found that shops a
  9. This is most likely a system issue that you are running Acronis on. I would try the following: 1) Uninstall, and re-install Acronis. And try again. 2) Try running the process on a different computer. 3) If a different computer is not available, and you insist on running this upgrade yourself (versus Garrett's upgrade), then you could try reinstalling your operating system and with a clean install run Acronis. Windows gets clogged up after time and needs to be cleaned out every now and again (usually people just purchase a new computer). -Jeff
  10. I fully understand about how the system can only pair with one phone at a time, that makes total sense. And even when there are two phones present, but where there are two registered, and only one present. It will refuse to connect to the one that is not primary. Whats the point of having two then? -Jeff
  11. I have an Avic-Z1 -> Z2 in my car. Had it for a long time, but during the Z1 -> Z2 upgrade I also added the Bluetooth adapter (since I had to add the two wire in the process). The issue I have is that with two phones paired, only one phone will connect to it. If I want the other phone to connect I have to manually select it from the list. And then back again for the other one. I would expect it to search the phones in order of priority and pair with the first one it finds. Does anyone have any ideas, or a quick way to switch between which phone is paired? I would like my wif
  12. Have you tried initiating the connection from both the Navi and the BB? I had no issues, and even added my Wife's 7130 BB as a secondary phone. Although I do find it frustrating that the Z2 will only connect to the one that is selected. Even if the first phone is no where to be seen, it will not link up with the second unless selected. And then I have to repeat to get it to link up with my phone. PITA. -Jeff
  13. No, actually I believe the image is on the HD. People upgraded their Z1's prior to the Z2 release. However this still requires removing, and unlocking your HDD. Easier to go all the way and upgrade to a Z2, where you get much better mapping system. -Jeff
  14. Only the two wire bypass will work. the old DucatiBoy flasher will not with with later Z1's and any Z2's. Look at the sticky under the "Hacks" Z1/Z2 section. -Jeff
  15. Here is another thread revived from the past. I wanted to provide closure for this since I started the thread. I recently found an Avic-Z2 at a nearby Circuit City (Finally!), and was able to check the POI that my (then) current Z1 had in the completely wrong location. All three (I know not many, but still 100% success ratio) POI's that were incorrect in the Avic-Z1 were correct on the Z2. So I finally made the jump and upgraded my Z1 to Z2 using an old Toshiba drive I had laying around. So far so good, no lock-ups, but I'm not in an extremely cold or hot (yet) area, so long term
  16. Sorry to revive a dead post, but I did find a solution to the Merceses Emblem issue, and the circle being stretched... Just compress the image by 5% vertically using MSPaint, and then the logo looks good. I tested using an image at 100% 95% and 90%, and the 95% image looks perfect. Just thought I would throw it in there. Here is my image:
  17. I couldn't find one for a long time, but it recently has been found. This may only be for pre 06/2004 W203's. http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showth ... 395&page=4 -Jeff
  18. Does anyone have a response to the previous question? What drive is recommended that is currently available? I don't want to buy a drive just to find out it's going to freeze/reboot on me. Thanks!! -Jeff
  19. I like the idea, but right now I'm running an early Z1, with the DB Flasher bypass. I don't mind swapping the drive (in fact it serves as a backup), however I dread removing the Z1 again, and having to ground the extra connector and also the parking break (I believe they both go to ground constant right? I really don't want to have to connect the parking brake). I assume these is no Z2 that supports the flasher bypass yet? I haven't kept up with these forums too much recently, except to look out for a Z2 upgrade path. -Jeff
  20. I have a Z1, and many (10%) POI locations are not correct on the map. It's on the right road, but the mapping system is not putting it on the right location. And I don't mean off by a few feet, we are talking miles. Has anyone that has completed the Z1 -> Z2 upgrade with the upgrade discs noticed any improvement in the accuracy of the POI's? I find it useless to create a Navigation system that doesn't even place an address at the right location on the street. This was discussed years ago when the Z1 first came out, but I'm curious if it's been fixed with the Z2 (and/or the Z1
  21. I would like to clarify what *my* problem is with the Z1. The POI locations are off. Addresses are correct, however how the Z1 maps the address to the map is wrong. All streets are good, tracking is good, just the mapping of address to map is off occasionally. This is a MAP issue, and not a GPS issue. -Jeff

    Beep on Z1

All the way down is off. That's how mine is configured.
  23. I was curious if this was already known or not. When selecting an artist/album song, if you just hold down the artist/album name it immediately starts playing the first song. Without having to navigate into the folder (album/track list, and waiting for it to populate and then selecting a song.) Just thought I would throw this out there! -Jeff
  24. Thanks for the help, but that didn't match my car. The Z1 tracks very well without the VSS wire, so I'm not having any issues yet with tracking. Radio reception on the other hand is horrible! Anyone with Mercedes (2001-2004) C Class know how to solve a poor radio reception issue after the stock stereo is replaced? Thanks. -Jeff
  25. I know that the factory stereo get's it's speed data from the CAN-BUS, but I've heard that there is another source that can be used as a secondary location for some of the COMAND systems that doesn't use the CAN-BUS connection, I've just not gotten confirmation of where it is. Has anyone installed any AVIC-Z1/D1/D2 in a 2001-2006 C-Class mercedes? If so, do you have the VSS wiure connected? If not, how off is the tracking? Is it worth it to put the Z1 in without the VSS connection? Thanks All!!
