One thing I want to add... if on this "new version" you could make an arrow (up, down, left, right) when searching for POI's so it can tell you in which direction it is That would be awesome. As always though... great mod!

Also, regardless of the transparency settings, on or off, the freeway signs are still transparent and hardly visible.

 

Any thoughts?

Bud - Without going through the signpost ini file, try to increase the zoom to 1200. 1000 is essentially 1:1, as you lower the number the bmp shrinks likewise if increase it it'll get larger.

 

Also you can download the bmp and ini file I did for merton on page 4. Extract the bmp only and replace the one in your unit. This one is more solid.

I was wondering about something I mentioned to I.D.T awhile back about looking into finding a way to set current location as "Home" and working it into a future release. Question is; if this was possible would it (the AVIC) still have to enter an incorrect physical address into the "set home address" field or could it be coded to save the longitude & latitude calculations as "Home" or current location and not a physical address at all?

Yes, that can be done but I doubt it will make it into the next release. The next release will be V3 due to the number of changes. It will probably be V3.1 before we get to that

Now if you can recommend a BMP editor because I cannot open them with either Roxio or Gimp.

You don't need a bmp editor to install the bmp. The signboard color is defined in the ini file, which you're to ignore from the download. Don't make this harder than it needs to be!

LS, I do use 2.3 version on a F500 EU model. Its working prperly fine, however I have a small issue with the audio. The audio warning and guidance is not working properly. My systems does mute the other sounds, but I do not hear anything. Any Ideas?

That sounds awesome too... seriously, what are you guys waiting for? JK Beta testers? Count me in hehe.

 

There has been a lot of coding involved. We are definitely going to need beta testers. There is a lot more coding and image creating that has to happen before its considered a solid build. Once it is we will need at least 2-3 from EU and US. So we will definitely come knocking.

 

Are you having dreams about it every night? I know I did for about a week or so when I was into it heavily.

 

Its pretty insane. I have. I sometimes have a hard time going to sleep and then when I wake up its in my head. Its really ridiculous. I have not been hitting it too hard lately. 34by151 has been doing a bulk of the coding. He has a really cool development tool that lets him jam this stuff out quickly. Up to the 2.3 release and the dreams got pretty vivid.

Freeway signs are limited in width. Adjust the W= setting and it will make them larger.

 

Transparency is for the navigation backgrounds not the freeway signs. Working on that put all changes to the signposts require a reboot.
